Easy hike in the snow. Very close to buildings and such , lots of car noise but still nice for in the city. Can walk on the river too now that it is frozen. Lots of trails leading onto it.

Awesome trail!

Hit this trail with snowshoes on New Years Day. If you go left at the beginning, it starts out fairly easy and then gains difficulty degree as you go, about half way. Scenery changes from edge of lake to forest, it’s actually awesome. Even a place to sit down half way after climbing a steep hill. This was demanding in the snow on snowshoes. I’m sure in the summer on foot it’s much different and less taxing. The views were great. I’m sure they’re even better when the lake isn’t frozen and covered in snow. Took us about 3 hours, 9.7km the watch tracked. Path was beaten down in the snow, it was perfect the whole way.

Nice spot for a short walk. Also a great place to stop for picnic lunch and enjoy the falls.

This must be my favorite trail in the Whiteshell. I have been hiking this trail with my family since I was a small kid. There have been many changes over the years. The look out is heaven on earth!

The Cedar Bog Trail is a 3.5 km loop hike in Bird’s Hill Provincial Park. This is one of my favourite hikes in the park and I love the beautiful scenery! The hike passes through a mix of landscapes including birch and aspen forest, grasslands and cedar forest. The setting is very peaceful and I especially love the cedar portion. This trail is beautiful to hike in all seasons. In the spring and summer, the cedar part of the trail is often wet, marshy and muddy (involves hopping across rocks or logs). In the fall, I enjoy the gorgeous mix of colours on the leaves in the forest. I recently hiked this trail this winter and loved the pop of green of the cedar leaves against the white winter backdrop. The atmosphere in the winter was still and calm. There are benches to sit and enjoy the lovely forest along the way and bird feeders in the cedar section to do some bird watching or feeding. I would have loved to try snowshoeing here, but the trail was pretty packed from walkers and there is very little snow to begin with right now. Snowshoeing might work after a fresh snowfall before it becomes packed again. The trail is flat and easy and the perfect length. It is a very enjoyable place to immerse yourself in nature and appreciate the surrounding beauty. It can be a busy trail in any season, but I have never experienced crowds here and even when there are a lot of cars in the parking lot, people are often spaced out enough that you might not even encounter anyone along the hike.

I snowshoed the Prairie Winds Trail (formerly the White Tailed Deer Trail) recently and it is a short, 1.5 km loop trail beginning from the south road in Birds Hill. The trail is designated for snowshoeing in the winter. Unfortunately, what little snow there was at the time I visited, had been pretty packed down by people walking on the trail, so it didn't make for good snowshoeing conditions. The trail led through a mix of forest and grassland landscape and was pretty. I only wish it had been longer! Hoping that we get more snow so that the conditions improve here for snowshoeing!

great trail. always popular. nice off trail too but be careful. the bush is dense and you could get confused.

The trail was very good and enjoyed it alot. Hiked in early Dec with snow and cold temps. Didnt make it to Jackfish Lake. Be careful that the ACTUAL Epinette Trail really starts 6km north of where Alltrails states. this adds another 10km to your hike to Jackfish.

Beautiful scenery, nice bench about midway and birdhouses. lots of different terrain. Very icy under trees in the shade. Losing cell reception could happen but frequented by lots of friendly locals and dogs.

Only able to do part of it due to a bad knee, but the trail was in great shape! Can’t wait to get healthy to do it all!
