I’ve done this trail many times, and it’s absolutely beautiful. The hard portion of the trail is closed, and there’s no viewpoint from the trail of the waterfall right now. Snow is packed down, but microspikes could come in handy.

Definitely an easy little walk, but really enjoyable. Bring microspikes for sure, or you won’t make it up, I saw people trying to crawl Make sure your boots are waterproof or bring extra socks.

Fun easy trail off Highway 1! The trail parallels the Trans-Canada for a few 100m and then quickly turns to follow the creek back up into the hills. The sound of the highway is lost once about 15min into the trail. Very icy, ice cleats required. The trail crosses over the creek a couple times and the log bridges have a hard pack ice cap on them.

Packed trail. No poles, or crampons. Good easy hike with my pooch.

Beautiful hike. In a wooded area without views after you get past Kananaskis lake, but it opens suddenly into Rawson lake. Well worth the trek and highly recommended. We went with a little guy on my back, ice spikes and poles. The trail is hard packed, but snowshoes would be nice given you can sometimes fall through the hard pack or in case you want to walk around the lake at the top.

Great hike today! Lower route remains closed, definitely recommend spikes.

Nice quick hike! Definitely need spikes for some areas. In other areas the path became slush and soft - stick to the middle of the trail! Bring extra socks and wear waterproof pants just in case you break through to knee high slush like we did :) I would give it a few days to firm up again after another drop in temperature. Ungroomed section past waterfall is packed hard and was easy to walk.

Had an amazing hike today on this busy trail. We did bring our snowshoes, but the trail was packed down enough that the snowshoes we not required. The “harder” trail was closed. Beautiful scenery and the lake at the end was crystal clear. Many opportunities to sit and rest. Easy trail. Kid and dog friendly.

Nice, quick hike. Wear spikes!!! Should be marked as easy, not moderate.

Did this trail the day after Christmas. Just had fresh snowfall so wearing boots was fine. Fresh snow made the atmosphere very majestic. Frozen waterfalls were cool. Short hike but fun.

Really nice trail. Lots of packed snow so crampons are not necessary but are helpful. If you want to keep going past the cave snow shoes would be good to have.

12/28 A relatively easy hike...but without 2-4 feet of snow. We chose this one due to the extreme avi danger reports on the surrounding mountains. This one is fairly benign. We blazed the trail on snowshoes and eventually made it to the top of the ridge, but not without second guessing ourselves. Had it not been for the perfect weather I honestly don’t think we would’ve completed this one. It was one heck of a grind ( 2-4 feet of sugary snow ) If you’re expecting great views on your way to the top, save your time, 99% of this hike is in the trees but with a relatively nice view at the top. If for any reason I would do this again ( highly doubtful ) it would be to scramble the back ridges. Enjoy !

Easy, heavily trafficked hike. A few icy spots but doable without crampons. Beautiful frozen waterfalls with the option to make it a bit of a longer hike and go further once you get to the waterfalls. Quite sheltered from the wind.

Icy spots but mostly packed snow. Ice cleats are definitely helpful.

Nice short hike, Took little over an hour. Should be ranked easy as it’s achievable for every age. Was cool walking in the canyon with big rocks all around. Watching the climbers go up the ice at the end was awesome.

Very easy little hike, I want a noise dissipates after a while and then it’s well worth the short trek

Great fun for kids, with some scrambling in the snow and snow slides. Today only icy in two small spots otherwise snow packed. Very windy today at the ice wall (and in the drive out) but did not bother us at all.

Trail was very easy to follow - packed snow and not icy. Loved that the water from the creek was still visible. Overall, it has a nice scenery and its a good trail for those who want to do a quick easy hike in the winter

As of Jan 1, 2020 the entire trail was hard packed. No need for snow shoes at all. Traction devices recommended. 55 mins up with a few short breaks, 45 mins down. Great trail
