Really nice Christmas Eve walk. I wouldn’t really consider it a hike. Great views around the lake. Got a little too congested near Hallstatt, but overall it was relaxing.

3,5 stars. Not amazing, but not bad. Took us a little bit more than 5 hours with 40 minutes stop at the top and another few stops on the way, but we modified the trail a bit (you can see the recording). Most of the trail is in the woods, you get the views on the surrounding mountains only at the top.

Have only walked a section of the loop Very beautiful scenery.

Very cool hike ... I started with the Eisenau section, tough hike upwards, goes for a while but some beautiful views over the lakes. You're rewarded at the top with...a pasture of cows! Walk down the trail a little and there's a cute restaurant you can grab a beer at for your troubles. The hike I took back, Burbaug I think, goes through some random fields, it was a little tough to follow where the trail was but I downloaded the Alltrails map on here and that really helped. Then you follow along a waterfall/stream the way down, really pretty. The last part, Unterach you're kind of just following along the road to get back, but looking over at the gorgeous water in the lake makes it okay. I took this pretty slow, stopped for a beer and lots of pictures, took me about 5 hours. There's a lot of trails out here, as a foreigner slightly tough to know where to go so I really appreciated this trail being on Alltrails.

Awesome trail with a spectacular view from the top. The ascent is quite steep and you should have some experience with scrambling to do it comfortably. We were treated to amazing views for the whole hike.

A pleasant, relaxed hike that was mildly challenge due to high temperatures. The water stations (especially the one close to the top) are a life saver. Average views, but worth the hike nonetheless!

This hike is hard. Be light weight when you start, because the first 3 km is very steep (around 50°). You walk up a ski hill the first serpentine turns and when you get to the lodge it's less steep with hills time to time all the way to the top. Last 1,5 km is steep again. The whole trail is very rocky and wide. Took me and my girlfriend a little bit less than 3 heavy hours to reach the top, breaks included. Once you reach the top it's very beautiful. Last cable car down is 19.00 unless it's full moon, which we accidentally hit. We went down 22.30 in the dark.

Nice trail which is not that hard. It's a consistant climb until you get 2/3 of the hike. Then you reach a beautiful open area with cows and nice views. The rest of the trail is a bit steeper but functional with trails and some stone stairs. The summit is awesome!

Great trail, very well maintained - starts out on paved road and turns into wide gravel trail. Mostly wooded on first part of way up, views at top. Nice stream as well! Beautiful hike.

Really great well marked trail, challenging but worth it for the views on the descent and the cold beer at the top! It has everything, including waterfalls, a gorge and even cows

We hiked on a very hot day (96 F when we started). Much of trail is covered so it is quite nice. There is a fountain approx 30-40 min into the hike where we refilled water bottles. Almost immediately after the fountain there is a sharp turn up to the right. It’s easy to miss because the trail going straight is quite well used.

My first hike in the Salzkammergut and what a great way to start in this region. This trail is exhausting: it's both long and steep. Especially the last hour almost killed me, but at some point we finally arrived at the summit. So it is a challenge and the reward is huge with amazing views into all directions (how many lakes are in this area?).

Hiked it in mid-May and it took 7 hours in total from base to summit and back down. We ran into heavy snow about 2/3 of the way up but it remained hikeable by following the rail tracks. The entire hike is very picturesque and the view at the top is gorgeous, so I would highly recommend this as a great way to see the Salzkammergut if you're up for a fairly strenuous hike!

South side of the trail is closed

The hike is well marked by Austrian Flag blazes. A few areas for viewing, but mostly a forested walk. Is a decent hike in a pinch for time. Option to turn into a loop along the road is available.

Picturesque location for plenty activities on the lake and on the surrounding mountains, easy hikes partially done due to limited time, will visit again for more hikings.
