if you're hiking to watch subset take the trail in a clockwise direction (the northern fork) first. it means you can walk back the easier way in the fading light.

Tough on the way up, spectacular scenery

on Sunset Hill Loop

Half of this walk is via a dirt road. It’s an okay walk but make sure u start st least 75 mins before sunset. We started 45 mins before sunset and came home in the dark - not fun! Otherwise a decent walk.

Really nice walk to do for a sunrise, the walk is not so easy... at the end you need to climb the rocks for example. Take good shoes and water. The view really really worth it !

Great trail, my kids love to test themselves on how fast they can get up and back.

A decent walk. Initially I was worried about the lack of signage, this being an unmanaged trail; however the trails are well-trodden and they were relatively easy to pick out. A number of people have mentioned the scramble to the top (climbing up rocks), this shouldn't be underestimated. Perhaps give this hike a miss if heights aren't your strength, but if you're ok with heights and are mobile, the views are very worthwhile from the top (glimpses of town, Pine Gap, sewerage treatment areas, the ranges). I did it around sunrise and there were at least 8 others ahead of me. Overall, very memorable!

great quick trail, looks like people mountain bike it also. I would rate as moderate for the length. elevation gain isn't bad. took me 1h20m.

Nice short walk, took approx 3.5 hours with a lengthy stop at the top to enjoy the view. Nice scramble at the top which may not be suitable for timid kids or people with limited mobility. Otherwise would highly recommend.

well worth getting up early to see the sunrise

Breathtaking in every direction. Not for the faint of heart. Theres a scary scramble to get to the very top.

Excellent views from the top, well worth the climb. I continued on past the trig point, to about 1km before the gap, and made my way down the south side then walked back to the Stuart Hwy. A good 14km hike!

I walk this trail every third day for work and every single time I walk it, it’s amazing. Lots of surprises including birdlife to amazing people on the walk.

You can only fully appreciate the area when you see it from the rim walk. 5 stars. well done to the people involved.

Amazing! The gorgeous views just keep coming around every corner.

Beautiful views, and fun rock climbing opportunities along the way

Hiked this in June. It's a moderate hike straight up to the top of the Canyon, but after that, its a really easy hike.
