I’d recommend this trail to anyone looking for an alternative to the highly trafficked trails in town. Provides 360 views inc Fitzroy and Cerro Torre (providing it isn’t cloudy). Lovely hike with gradual incline until last 1km which is a good challenge up to the summit.

This is a great moderate trail to do in El Chalten. Many reviews say it is challenging, but ultimately depends on your experience. We trail run in the Canadian Rockies on more challenging terrain so would not consider this hard. The biggest challenge was the fact that it was quite busy, full of people with limited gear and experience. The park staff say it takes 8 hours but we did it in about 4.5 hours in the peak time of the afternoon.

This was a steady rise for 3000 feet (2000+ meters). Great views, only a few muddy spots, a few cow patties, not much rock scramble. We stoped at the view of the lake. The trail continues up 600 more feet in elevation, but the wind and rain were too much. We had 50-60 mph gusts.

Beautiful hike! 16miles roundtrip from our hotel with the well worth addition to the glacier lookout! Mostly flat with a few inclines. Trail is muddy in places but generally able to navigate around.

A beautiful hike. Far less demanding than the Lago de los Tres but equally beautiful.

Amazing hike. Took us 6.2 miles to make it to the lake so roundtrip was closer to 13. Slightly muddy and wet in areas but otherwise ideal conditions!

This is at the same time one of the most amazingly beautiful hikes in this planet and yet a tough and physically demanding one. Do not underestimate it.

This trail has the best views I've ever seen in my life. Period. The first 2 miles and the last mile to the summit are HARD. I'm fit but mostly an amateur hiker and I struggled. But there were children and grandparents on the trail with me, so it's certainly doable, just be prepared.

Great loop. I'd fill up on water before final large descent if you don't have a filter. can be completed in 9-15 hrs by experienced trail runners

Quite a nice and easy hike, no more than 2 hours at a relaxed pace. Views at both points are great.

Nice and easy trail, definitely easier than Laguna De Los Tres. There are a few steeper inclines at the start but not much after that.

Awesome trail - well maintained and well marked, especially for a free national park. Viewpoints on the way are great but nothing beats the view at the end after a challenging final ascent! Start earlier to beat the crowds.

Short and sweet. Awesome views.

Easy hike mild elevation gain. Partly cloudy with sunshine all around us, but the peaks are shrouded in clouds.

Long but our 11 year old enjoyed it. The final 1km zigzag “sky stair” is not that hard, but: it’s literally a river with strong stream flowing down and loose rocks. Wear hiking shoes. Varied terrain and great views, even if the main peak never made out of the clouds for us. There were snow patches by the lake (off trail) that one can slide down if you know what you are doing.

Did the half day hike on the glacier which included a couple of hours on the boardwalk followed by an hour or so on the glacier with crampons after boating across the lake. The half day was a great introduction to the glacier and the perfect amount of time. The hike on the glacier wasn’t too extensive or technical but a great experience. 12/28/19

Trail is in great shape. The highlight is the glacier at the end, but this same glacier can be seen from the Lake Capri hike (though you get much closer to it here). You're hiking through the woods so not much view until you get to the glaicer lookout. Its a beautiful view though.

Cool view of El Chalten from Condor Point and of the plains/expanse from Eagle Point. It can be extremely windy in the afternoons. The condors don't show up on windy days.

Beautiful trail with great views of the valley on the way up and Mount Fitz Roy at the peak. Views are highly dependent on weather -- if it looks cloudy in the distance, you won't be able to see the mountains. Fairly crowded. Trail is in great shape.

it's called Laguna Azul. it's also outside the national park

Beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, overcrowded with tourists who don’t know basic trail etiquette. Error in the route after Fitz Roy lookout. Follow the trail not the AllTrails route.

Got on the trail early (6:00am) to avoid the crowds, which we hit on our descent. After some initial uphill the trail levels and is pretty flat offering nice views (weather permitting) of Fitz Roy. The last mile is a pretty steep uphill which can be challenging for some. The summit has great views but also high winds and hail when we were there. We stuck around for about an hour because the always changing conditions allowed most of Fitz Roy to quickly appear and then disappear again. A great hike and special place. 12/26/19

On the trail by 7 and hardly saw anyone as we climbed up with views of the waterfall and river before headed through the forest and avoiding the winds. Once we were in the valley the winds and rain picked up at times but we had decent views of the semi cloudy surrounding mountains (rainbows too). Made the final push to the lake where winds where 40-50mph and views were pretty obstructed by clouds. Headed back down and the views were terrible. Glad we left early and got to see some of the mountains on our hike in. 12/25/19

Straight forward hike up to two lookout points. Not really difficult at all. The only challenge is getting cooperative weather as the first vista was obstructed. Luckily the second lookout point was clear and we had nice views of the lake and surrounding area. 12/24/19.

This was a great trek! Some of the best views I’ve ever seen. We did 20 miles the first day to get ahead of storm. The weathers wasn’t great, it rained a good amount, snowed a little and was extremely windy. We lost the trail a lot and had to back track or cut straight up the mountain to connect to the trail which was exhausting. The hike had a couple difficult areas steep inclines and declines but over all the hike wasn’t that bad. There was one unexpected obstacle, the rope to the pulley on the second travers was broken so I climbed the cable and re attached it. We finished in 3 days and got back to el Chaltén by 2pm. One tip, don’t carry water there are plenty of water sources.
