We did the amigos trail as well. I believe it shows in my recording. Personally go to the clouded forest it’s nicer and not as creepy. Hahaha yes this is a free hike!! But it’s not well maintained and I was a little freaked out about insects! Only due to it being a little wet and we had a scorpion and a snake in our rooms the night following lol.

Beautiful hike. Many trails and beautiful views.

it is a very worth it to visit if you are in this area. The effect of the clouds going through the trees is quite impresive.

Nice short 20 min hike each way. Some scrambling with ropes. Nice waterfall and pool at the end. Can cliff jump.

This was a nice trail. The hike is easy and the rain forest was beautiful. The viewpoint over the continental divide was spectacular. Giving it four stars because not a lot of animal life and lots of tourists... like us.

Difficult at one side, other side is easy. Nice to do both.

Amazing trail- we got engaged on the beach at the end! The beach is stunning and well worth the hard trail! The elevation you really feel in the heat. Amazing wildlife spotting. Beware of big snakes. Very memorable, take lots of water. There is a place to rinse off by the beach which was great before hiking back.

This was more than expected. The trail is part of a nature preserve. There was a $20 entry fee with an option to rent binoculars or a guide. The trail map listed here is only the perimeter of the trails. There are many more that zig-zag through the middle. It is popular among birdwatchers, but much less traveled than the formal Monteverde trails. If you are looking for peace and quite and a chance to see local birds, I recommend this. It was easy to spend 2.5 hours wandering around.

Superbe rando, nature exceptionnelle et le sentier est bien dégagé. On l’a fait en novembre 28 degré et 90% d’humidité une bonne sportive

Fantastic hike! We hiked to the Continental divide, where it was raining & blowing, then crossed the suspension bridge and had a beautiful forest hike. Some strenuous uphill and rugged downhill, but mostly flat or slight grade. 2.5 hours. Took Sendero Bosque Nuboso trail to Sendero La Ventana (continental divide lookout with a cool lookout deck) to Sendero Camino to bridge & back to start. Fairly good signage throughout. Take a pic of the map that the ticket staff will highlight for you. Afterward, we stopped by the hummingbird cafe & spotted not only hummers but white faced monkeys eating bromeliads in the trees. So fun!

This was a fantastic hike. We went to the continental divide lookout where it was very windy and rainy, then over a suspension bridge over the forest, then through beautiful jungle like area ... we saw an agouti, heard many birds, then saw monkeys and hummingbirds at the end near the Hummjngbird Cafe which makes great coffee. Spectacular hike!

Well groomed trail, with some great look outs. The view of the forest canopy at the continental divide is worthwhile. Lots of great, jungly forest to see.

Nothing special: a wide yet steep forest track. It starts from the Belmar hotel. You can not miss it nor get lost. The view must be good from the top but in August, I got only clouds and rain. It’s a good workout for trail running though : quite steep but you can run all the way, and you can go on your own without worrying about anything else but the odd dog. Beware of slippery mud in the way down.

Go early and take lots of water - IMPORTANT NOTE - more than you think you’ll need! This is a long and hot hike but the abundance of wildlife we observed was worth every second. The first part has some decent tree cover but where the sun gets through it is blazing! Hike quietly and you may find yourself surrounded by a troop of capuchin monkeys as they made their way through the jungle, as we were. We were able to stand and observe them for quiet a long time and got some amazing photos. We also saw and heard howlers communicating with another group down the valley - it was amazing to hear their calls echo all around us. We also also saw many coatimundis, a deer, agouti, and spotted the rare great curassow in the underbrush as well as many colourful birds and butterflies. At the half way point you are rewarded with Playa Blanca - a rocky beach safe for a refreshing dip and a mid way lunch at the shaded picnic tables on the beach. Amazing hike! 10/10 would do it again!! There is a well at the trailhead with drinkable water, however 3 out of 4 of our group had some tummy trouble after drinking it - FYI.

I would call this a difficult hike if you are not an experienced hiker. The humidity is intense on the walk and having a backpack full of beach supplies made it tough. The beach at the end is gorgeous and was not crowded at all! Heads up for monkeys if you go in the water! Water is super rocky but you can float the waves in
