Trail was a bit slippery. Freezing cold on top of the mountain. Bring rain gear, warm stuff and gloves! Tough hike all around but very enjoyable.

The falls are worth the effort of this hike. Start early because it gets sunny and hot fast. Most of the trail to the falls is uphill. There are steep areas with loose rocks. when we visited there were also muddy areas. There are areas with little shade. Bring protection from the sun and hydration. There is shade around the falls and the water is cool. It was fun to climb around the lower waterfall. We took some video footage of the hike and falls https://youtu.be/u4vGRo786b4

Definitely worth the effort! The weather is so uncomfortable and I was soaked before I got there but the waterfalls are incredible and the jungle is beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful spot!! Try and get there as early as possible. For those taking the bus the first bit down to the parking lot is fine heading down but pretty tough coming back up, especially if it’s sunny and hot like it was for us! Amazing pool to swim in. Totally worth any payment! A must if you’re in the area.

I would classify the trail as moderate to difficult but worth the effort. Get there early to avoid the crowds. We hiked for an hour and arrived to find just a guide and his nephew at the end of the trail. We had the waterfalls and the pool all to ourselves for at least 30 minutes.

this was the hardest trail I have done but it was so worth it for the views and wildlife. it took me 11hrs to get to the top and 7 to get down. I split it in 2 days. we did it the first week of may which is officially rainy season in Costa Rica but the weather was beautiful both days I was on the mountain. the forecast changes minute by minute so dont let that deter you from doing it or over packing as we did.

Complete the round trip in one day, total 42km and 3000m of d +, we left the morning at 5:45 am and return in the evening just before darkness 18:00! A beautiful 12h of effort, we walked quickly 3.5km / h without really taking time off. There are two points where you can get supplies (water / toilet / food / liquor), the first at 7km and the second at 14.5km. It was very hot do not forget sunscreen and cap! Great trail, very well maintained and great views !!

So...read my other review to Base Crestones. If you’ve made it that far, you have to go the rest of the way. It’s all a challenge but well worth it.

Not your normal CR adventure but well worth the effort. Think Kilimanjaro of Central America. You travel steeply through 5 microclimates, and it’s hard if you’re not a seasoned hiker. Views at the finale are spectacular. Most people base camp but I suppose you could do this in one day.

Amazing trail! I advise you to start the trail a bit before 7am so you don’t have to pay. The guard arrives around 8am to check the entry.

Hike was boring, basically a dirt road. (1/5 stars) Waterfalls were amazing. We spent about 1.5hours swimming and hanging out. (5/5 stars) Make sure to get there early before it gets crowded.

Very hard the last 2 km, but they are worth it. I went with very heavy rain, so bring impermeable jackets. Don't forget impermeable gloves. Don't hesitate just go forward

The hike is basically a dirt road - partially shaded and partially sunny. Pretty hot because we went toward the afternoon. That being said, the Waterfall was truly gorgeous and the water was refreshing! There were plenty of people that brought their lunches out and made it an adventure - if I were you I would do the same. We stayed the the waterfall itself for a good hour or so. Swimming and sitting on the rocks looking at the fish!

Very beautiful hike. A must see if you're in the area! Bring plenty of water, a couple snacks and some stuff to get wet in. The trail can be very muddy in parts so be mindful of that. Open toed shoes aren't recommended but you can get by if that's all you have. Be sure to bring some colones for the ticket purchase and if you can drive down to parking lot it will make the hike a lot easier. Enjoy!

Trail was moderate basically a dirt road the whole way. It gets steep and in some parts if it has rained really muddy so wear hiking shoes if possible. I wore some track shoes so it got really slippery in some places. You will see some cattle and horses along the way, and some shots of the river. It gets pretty steep towards the end and your heart rate will get going. Then it opens up to the most amazing waterfall I have ever seen. Make sure you go to the top falls and explore behind the rocks! Pay the extra 3 dollars to park in the parking lot you will be glad you did trust me! Trail is four stars but the waterfall is 5 stars!

AWESOME hike to the most beautiful waterfalls I have ever seen! The hike is longer than the 2.5 miles one way that is advertised. More like 3. So six miles round trip. Very steep in parts but totally worth the hike. Definitely bring your for wheel drive car so you can drive down to the parking lot. It’s a steep muddy road and if you can’t drive down it you have to walk and that would add another 3 miles to your trip!! But this is a must see!!!

This trail is not as easy as it looks.. Park at the top and walk/run down.. or if you have a suv you can drive down and park at the parking lot 1.5km down.. MAKE SURE YOU GET A WRIST BAND AT THE TOP BY THE ROAD! It’s $8 otherwise they might turn you away right at the waterfall.. total hike from the road 9.6km Bring lots of water

This was an amazing hike on a hot day in November but so worth it! You will definitely want good shoes that can handle both the rocks & dirt but also slippery areas if it was raining and by the waterfall. I would not attempt this one with little kids or you will need to have the in a back carrier. Parts of this hike are pretty steep. Not for the casual walker :)

Extreme difficult for a beginner, but worth the struggles in order to reach the peak during a storm. The trail was washed out from the storm. 14 hours up and 11 hours down, with an overnight stay at base-camp. I'd do it again.
