Well worth the views of the waterfall and where the two rivers join. Surprisingly busy for low season and a weekday. Can imagine that it’s very busy on weekends and in dry season. Keep your eye out for sloths, and interesting insects. A fair amount of steps mid-trail and could be challenging for people with knee issues, but definitely doable.

Absolutely beautiful views, full of beautiful flowers and wildlife if you're quiet enough. The hardest part is the very steep beginning, after that, moderate difficulty.

We hiked this with our 3 boys 8, 7, and 5 year old. Now, our boys aren’t your normal boys. They have done a ton of hiking and even 40, 36, and 32 mile bike ride respectively. We had a great time. It’s a little tough hike because of the length of the incline and uneven terrain with an pretty easy trail to follow. Make sure you make it to the lookout that has a view of the lagoon. We saw a ant eater and a small snake we haven’t identified yet. Lots of uneven ground and a little time on all 4, but nothing to tough.

Great hike on lava flow 1968! Fairly steep climb, but 8 year old daughter managed well with hiking sticks provided. :)

Easy to moderate hike challenge depending on expert level. Danta waterfall is strong, and great spot for photos. Danta hanging bridge is simple starter in height for anything of greater heights. Best part of the hike is Arenal Volcano in every backdrop!

Views into the crater are hit or miss depending on the weather. if conditions are right, the view is spectacular. Even in bad weather, if you hang around the view point for a while, you might get a peekaboo view. When it is misting or rainy the hiking trails are right out of a fantasy novel.

La casona played an important role in shaping Costa Rican identity , because of the military political events . Santa Rosa National Park and Liberia City Tour. The Santa Rosa National Park is the most important monuments in the dry forest of freedom after independence. “La Casona” is where in 1856 the Costa Rican army beat a group of filibusters that tried to conquer the whole central American territory. In 1890 it is purchased by Sacaza family who demolished the casona and builds a new one The haciendas in Guanacaste had a garden with crops such as cocoa and sugar cane . Haciendas extracted timber and farmed cattle y dairy products. The battle of Santa Rosa is one of the most important moments of National Campaign . The campaign stemmed from a Civil War between the Liberal and the Conservative parties in Nicaragua from 1854 to 1857 . To win the cause the Democratic Party appealed to William Walker And his mercenaries. Colonel Lorenzo Salazar with 480 men from San José vs 230 filibusters . The battle lasted 14 minutes. 19 filibusters died and 20 were executed.

Getting there is not complicated. From Liberia , it is 6 kilometers going towards Bagaces . There is a sign on the right that leads to the site, about another kilometer away. You do not need a 4×4 vehicle or legs of steel. Moreover, it is the perfect place for those who want to leave the car in the parking lot, walk a couple of minutes, contemplate the beauty and enjoy taking a dip in the water. There are not many steps that you have to go down to reach the water. It doesn’t even take five minutes, but it could be complicated for someone elderly. After the steps, your feet touch white sand, like a beach. The sound of water becomes the center of attention and a moist breeze begins to refresh your face. It is 19 meters (62 feet) high, while others say 21 meters (69 feet) , but the curtains of water drawn on the landscape are more striking than the dimensions. Some say that the pool is more than four meters (13 feet) deep. During the dry summer months, many Guanacaste families visit the waterfall since it is one of the few places where water flows year round. On ordinary days, about 300 people can come, but there are days when up to 1,000 come..You can climb to the top but it a little slippery.

You will walk a small distance on a path that leads to La Oropéndola waterfall, with its impressive 25 meters cascade . The Oropendola waterfall rushes into a bubbling turquoise pool in the exuberant canyon of the Blanco River, creating an incredible tropical oasis.

Definitely worth the effort! The weather is so uncomfortable and I was soaked before I got there but the waterfalls are incredible and the jungle is beautiful. Would definitely recommend.

Enjoy the Rio Celeste in your vacations to Costa Rica. Perfect combination of length, difficulty, scenery, beauty, wildlife. It only takes about 35 minutes to reach the waterfall . A 6 on a scale of 1-10 as far as difficulty. Some stairs involved . It is crowded and people love to take themselves selfies. The first part of the hike is a nice stroll on a very well-maintained trail like a concrete path and then leads on to more rugged train. The hike down to the waterfall is well maintained with stairs. Enjoy

You will hike across three hanging bridges, discovering amazing views from the height of the canopy. you will pass over some suspension bridges and through the colorful canopy. Watching various types of wildlife, insects and flowers that are beyond imagination! An experienced guide will lead you for 2 hours in the pre-mountainous cloud forest (2,600-3,000 ft. above sea level). Thanks

This is a natural reserve with paved trails and wildlife refuge/exhibits. Entry costs $45 for foreigners (ouch!), and offers different trails. You can spend an entire day there, enjoy the exhibits, cafeterias and trails. The waterfall trails are safe with paved trails, steps and guardrails, making it accessible to almost everyone. It is a long climb down and up, so is not good for small children or if you have difficulties climbing stairs. There are a few overlooks/rest stops. Overall I enjoyed it very much and would go back once I get my resident visa and avoid the “gringo tax”.

Beautiful national park. Easy trails. Toucans and monkeys among the wildlife. Lovely beach. If you find yourself in Costa Rica the park is a must.

Right guys this is my review after reading a lot of reviews before hiking. Couple hoax ar just lame review thing that I would write down. We did it on mid September as is beginning of rainy season? 1.You dont need be super fit to make it(I don't work out and had 5 fractures at my right foot 11 weeks ago 30yo slightly overweight and stillanaged to do it) 2. Its not 'vertical' or extremely dificult. But you will need some stamina. 3. Once you get to the top its not 30 mins to get to the crater. Even if you can't see the water just take left and you will be down in 5 minutes.( This part it is very steep but only 5 mins so you will survive) We didnt encounter any ''power rangers'' which I guess they might turned up there one in a month or even less. But if you do give random names to avoid fine. You can feel slippery part of trail when decending, but just get on your bum when there is biger steps and go slowly and you will be fine(dont be afraid to get dirty) I took me just under 2 hours to the top and 5 mins to the crater. We had a swim 3 sandwiches 3 cigarettes ( yes we do smoke on the hike) and 2 liter of water(should have been 3 as well, as I had to save it later), and in total 4.5 hours to finish the trail. Totaly worth it, bring enough water and enjoy it!

We were staying at Green Lagoon in February. We took off around 9am to hike up. It started out on a road, then gravel road, the you cross a foot bridge, walk up a hill on a trail through grassy area, then into the jungle! Lucky for us, it was fairly dry. Even the roads in were fairly steep. If you aren’t in 1/2 ok shape, DO NOT ATTEMPT! I was winded! We got all the way up & was going to descend to the lake when we crossed park rangers. They spoke Spanish & we couldn’t communicate well, but they turned ya around. Wouldn’t even let us take a picture. The trail IS CLOSED! You can get around the fence, but you may get turned back and/or fined. We didn’t because we were staying at the hotel. If you can/do make it, it’s a fairly difficult, but beautiful trail in Costa Rican Jungles!

We hiked here in February. There are a lot of steps. Going down wasn’t so bad, but coming up.... We hiked Cerro Chato the day before, so my legs had enough for two days after this! The water was cold, but the waterfall & scenery was so worth it!! A must do in the area!

Beautiful views. Hard to find the start with the construction in progress. The Dantita trail was closed with a "keep out" sign so we took a detour to re-meet that trail.
