Great hike! Trail is easy to find, just look for the sign off the gravel road, and is well defined and easy to follow. It is steep and slippery in places from lose dirt and pine needles etc. The top 1/3 requires some climbing, I'd call it 'technical scrambling'. Some ropes kindly installed in some difficult spots but some climbing up rock required. Definitely need to be sure-footed and ok with heights as you're on the sharp ridge for last 1/4 or so. Took 2.5 hours so quicker than Te Manga and Te Kou but I'd say it's slightly more difficult.

Amazing hike. Took us about 5 hours (moderate fitness). Good track with enough markers to find the way up but be careful not to lose the track coming down as we went the wrong way a couple of times. We suggest you bring some coloured plastic or cloth ties to mark some of the more obscure places to guide you back down. Well worth the effort. Definitely avoid when wet!

I wouldn't consider this hard, perhaps a bit above moderate. From what I remember, the trail is a bit overgrown at points. But nothing exceptionally difficult, decent view at the top.

Great walk! Pretty tough. A lot of ropes. Took us about 3 hours all up.

The track is hard to find, use gps, very over grown, first part is a lot of crawling under fallen trees and branches, I cleared a lot but still hard going, marking are hard to find at times , I think I was the only one to do this in about 5 years , in the end couldn’t find the summit

Very strenuous hike up . Works out your legs and arms as you use the ropes. Amazing views are your reward. Make sure you head across the crater When you reach the top to view the eastern side of the island

Hard trek up. Probably the hardest on the island. Good from beautiful forest walk with a couple of stream crossings to an almost entirely vertical ascent with ropes very quickly into the hike. Over half of the hike is roped.
Finding the start is easy. Take the happy valley road until the pavement stops then just use a bit of common sense on getting to the start. There is a way that 'feels right' and it doesn't take more than 5 minutes.
Two tricky little spots to watch for to make sure you're on the path. There are 3 stream crossings, but the path seemingly leads to a fourth that is a dead end. If you find yourself at the fourth, head back on the path about two meters and look up the mountain to find the first rope of the hike. Then when nearing the summit, one of the ropes will take to past the next rope to an overgrown area. Be on the lookout for the rope on your left. Amazing summit. Very, very slippery when even the slightest bit wet.
Quite edgy at some points.

A good group trek up Raemaru. Great views and easy going uphill track. There is a bit of rock climbing involved before you get to the top, which isn't too hard. Went back a second time for a bit of mountain running!

Its a pretty amazing track, there is a good climb through the bush until you get up on to the ridge line where there are a couple 5 - 10m rope climbs. Just below the summit there is a 40 - 50 m set of ropes that lead you to the summit. The views are amazing from the summit. I highly recommend some confidence on ropes, only going on good weather, decent level of fitness and a climbing buddy! I wouldn't tried the end section alone.

Nice easy uphill track up to the rock wall. The rock wall isn't too hard, there are ropes and pegs to use to get up the 10 - 15m wall and there is a beautiful view from up top. There is a rough track up to Maungaroa, it's flagged but the track is pretty rough & tricky. I turned around at the second highest peak on the ridge line.
