Nice hiking through the forest. A bit hard approaching the highest point due to altitude

Sat Feb 02 2019

Grueling uphill the whole way and some 2300 meters of elevation over 2 km BUT what a view! Absolutely stunning vista from the top and well worth the hundreds of stairs and throngs of people.

Second time doing the round trip, but today was not rainy so i took time to take some pictures and talk to other people and police. Nice hike previous to my volcano. #HikeRevolution, #Colombia, #Bogota, #Monserrate, #Ibague, #Chato

some steep parts, but totally worth it. the downhill climbing over boulders was amazing (but watch your footing!)

Really nice hike. Be prepared for lots of musquitos, cold showers and quite a tough hike, but in the end it’s all worth it! I would ddfinitely recommend it to others. Tip: don’t wash your clothes after a hike: it’s so humid that they will not dry during night so they stay wet.

Awesome trail with beautifull views over the jungle. We did the tour with Magic Tours; experienced guides and translator Made the complete journey worth it!

Very steep, rocky trail but worth the hard work for the great views at the top, including the city of Cali! Recommend going with a guide as it is not marked but is obvious in most parts. Lots of tropical birds singing but hard to find in the dense foliage!

Mind blowing!! I came down and around the boulders and was completely taken aback by the landscape and ocean! I must have stood there for 10 minutes in shock, just trying to take in all of its beauty. This hike is worth it!

The hike is easy as the trail is also a road made of dirt and/or cement blocks. The town, the people, the jungle and the food make this hike a trip of a life time! I have traveled extensively and lived in other countries and I was surprised at how open, friendly and social the Colombians are with foreigners. Love Colombia ❤ I stayed at Minca Ecohab Hotel and it was fantastic. Breakfast was included and Restaurante Santisabella right in Minca had amazing food.

A great hike with Guide Alfredo Correa from Cocuy and young son Giovanni who bounded along as if he was going for a seaside stroll while we plodded along at a rate defined by altitude and ancient bodies.

A great but strenuous hike accompanied by an excellent guide. Alfredo Correa from Cocuy. Missing from the list of hikes is that to El Púlpito del Diablo and el Pan de Azucar 25km. We did this with Martha Correa, also a great guide.

This trail is certainly difficult but well worth the reward along the way and at the end. This trail is close the 40 mi round trip. It is hot and humid but the guides are fun and full of information. i strongly recommend this trip to anyone who is looking for a cultural and spiritual experience. You must appreciate nature and be sure to respect the local tribes.

This trail was just barely worth the struggle. The trail is very steep, up and down, up and down, the whole way to and from, and very very hot. The camps along the way can be crowded and lots of people get sick via a gastro bug. BUT it is a beautiful hike and the Lost City at the end is truly amazing. We used Guias y Banquianos Tours and they were incredible- one of our guides Pedro used to farm the land and was able to give us an authentic history of the region. I have no regrets about doing this awesome hike- just be ready for it!

Fri Mar 09 2018

This was my first multi-day hike. The 2nd day was the hardest, lots and lots of uphill. Arrived in the Lost City the morning of day 3. It was amazing!

Wed Feb 28 2018

hard trail!! get up to 4600 meters... you need a guide that you can get in town of el cocuy

Wed Feb 28 2018

amazing trail!!! get up to 5000meters! you need a guide tho.. but easy to get in town

Sat Feb 10 2018

Amazing hike!!! I see older reviews talk about hammocks, which is what I thought we would have. My friend and I just completed this 26 Jan - 29 Jan with Guias y Baquianos tour company. we had clean beds that were enclosed in mosquito nets. Tougher than I expected, but the food and views were amazing!!! I highly recommend.

``Las Delgatidas`` is a footpath that conects Sabaletas whit Montebello, although it is narrow and steep, it is quite well and it`s used by the peasants who live in its ranches along it, the magic of the trip was, that in the beginning there was little visibility for the bushes that were surrounding the footpath, it was very hot whit an intense sun; and as we where climbing, the sight was clearing up, showing the ranches, and related villages; the climate was becomming more and more fresh, up to being completely cold; and when we were on the highest elevation point, at a side of the hill of Cristo Rey, it was possible to contemplate a beautiful mountain ranges scenery. Recommended to realize hiking, preferably climbing.

excelente trail

Must do if you're in Colombia. Can be done in four to five days

Sun Sep 24 2017

Excellent hike. Nice Pueblito ruins on top. Take plenty water and snacks. Very limited service on top. Very steep 2-3 hr hike up and about 2 hrs down. Paths are generally well marked.

We did the 4 day trail and I would rate hard instead of moderate given that you need to carry your gear and there is quite a bit up & down (we saw several people need to ride the mules back). Totally worth it but be prepared (you can find several blogs online with lots of good details). It rained 2 of the four days which was a nice break from the heat but made for some slippery trail (and you need to cross the river to the third camp prior to the rain starting.

We did the 5 days hikes and we were very happy! 4 days can be really tough! Do not take tour with the indigenous since they are not there to help you if need! One person of our group had a knee problem and had to be treated by an other tour guide. Pack light since it is very hot! Bring a liner because the hammocks are full of ticks. Do it before it get too commercial...!!!

Fri Sep 12 2014

Much more strenuous hike then the guides lead you to believe (we did the 4 day). Especially if it rains. This is one of a small number of trails out there that isn't overly crowded so get in there before it becomes so. Easy to find a guide in Santa Marta which I would recommend over trying to book online. There will be a lot of mosquitos and mud so prepare accordingly. Tip: bring a really light sleeping bag as the hammocks aren't very clean.
