Recommend go anti-clockwise. First half is going up the rock stairs in the shade of forest. Then you can go down the wooden stairs in the sun. Nice views of nature and city of Beijing if AQI is green. No shops on the mountain so must bring lunch and water. It took some time to catch didi on the return way. Its a stairs-hiking in the forest and the sun.

Very nice hike in the Bamboo grove. It is a hard one though and the trail is not always obvious and easy to follow. Highly recommended!

Extraordinary, it’s a day hike. Easy. But make sure you don’t run down hill cuz it’s very easy to run down and then you will suffer from altitude sickness

Another park right in the middle of the city. Impressed with the varieties of plants and paths offered. The climb to the top of the mountain offers a panoramic view of the city.

Very nice track. Started in gubiko, no signs for start of trail. Detour in middle due to military base. About 12km, beautiful views, no other hikers ... you have the wall all for you'r self...

We did it independent, no instructor . It was hard to find the start point , and there is a military base you should avoid in the beginning. We were alone all the way. After 7 km you can’t continue in the Great Wall cause there is a military place so you detour to the left It was amazing

This is an awesome complex. The history , views and people watching makes this a complete walk. Not really a hike but still worth the time.

This is a spectacular view of Nanjing. Currently the wall on top is closed heading to Purple Mountain but there is an exit down near the closure. Worth the walk. Look up the history of Nanjing 1937-1938 before head out. It will put some perspective on the walls importance.

Trail is made of stone steps and in very good condition. Jan 1st was a beautiful day for a walk. The up hike can be tiring if your not in good shape.

This one accidentally has the lift coming down the mountain- the start and finish should be the same - the wall is from the stage 14 to 20. Going up to 20 is mainly up hill and coming back is mainly down hills. Between 19 and 20 is the most steep section. However breathtaking views looking back. Mostly recommend going in the after due to the angle of the sun.

This was the first backpacking trip I ever did in 2012 and it’s still a great memory.

Like many mountain trails in Shenzhen, you are offered two choices: a steep climb via stone slabs or a more gentle circuitous route via vehicle accessible roadway. Either way you get to have some great vistas of the surrounding city high rises and landscapes, while enjoy being surrounded by natural floral and fauna.

this was amazing hike, we did not start from the top of the mountains as recommended, we started from the very bottom from a very unknown hiking trail (known only by locals) from the east side of the mountain. you gain a huge elevation as you go up and eventually you find this hiking trail. highly recommended hike, beautiful and amazing walk across the mountains. November is the best season to come to avoid huge crowds.
