At the trailhead there is a small parking lot, restrooms and an information booth. The path follows the Chaica river and the trail is surrounded by abundant vegetation, it is well maintained and well marked. In areas where there is a lot of humidity and some rocks, there are wooden walkways that facilitate transit. Finally, you will arrive at the Salto, which is a quite powerful waterfall that will amaze you. This is a very pleasant short hike inside the Alerce Andino Park. In addition, from there you can continue to visit other sectors (unless there are closures due to difficult weather conditions).Show more

The Sargazo Lagoon is considered one of the must-see treks for hikers within the Alerce Andino National Park. To access the path that leads to it, it is necessary to enter the park from the sector that receives its name: Sargazo Sector, about 46 kilometers from the city of Puerto Montt. It can be visited by taking two trails: the first, forks to the right about 800 meters coming from the entrance of the Park and passes through the Lenca river, has a vehicular road until approx. half way of and then leads to a path that leads directly to the lagoon, between a thick forest. The other, continuing to the left at the fork, leads to the Lagoon not before passing through several of the ancient larches to carefully appreciate these amazing old trees. For a complete experience, why not visit it from both points? That way, you will not miss any corner of the incredible views and the colors reflected in its waters. Keep in mind that in winter the trails are closed for maintenance.Show more
