The most intense and beautiful hike in the Yukon! Most of the trek up to the seat (above the tree line) and definitely to the summit is a switchback scramble through scree. The paths gets very narrow and steep between the seat and summit. Very slow moving. The decent even slower because of this. Most people used hiking poles - wish I had some too. Also had a great, frigid swim in Lake Kathleen at the bottom, after the hike.

Saw a grizzly, it ran, we turned around.

Did this hike last summer. The trail starts along an old miners road along the lake then leads up the mountain. The switchbacks can get quite narrow and steep. It is a bit of a work out, but 100% worth it. Unfortunately we only had time to reach the cirque which was about 3.5 hours total if I can recall correctly, but if you have another hour or two to spare to reach the summit I would recommend doing it.

nice hike along the ridge. clear views in all directions. 4 hours. bring poles for way down. no water on hike. some ridge walking to the north and west.

The first few kilometres are through pretty dense forest, so this is not quite as scenic as some other trails in the area, but good mushroom-spotting along the path. Views open up as you get closer to the lake, which is as beautiful as the reviews suggest. Good choice for a shorter walk!

Just completed this scenic drive all the way to Tuktoyaktuk and the Arctic Ocean. No flats no repairs no windscreen damage using a Truck camper. Fantastic scenery especially around the Tombstone area. Campsites and fuel availability was very good. We did not have any rain so the road was really dusty but generally in good condition. We had some great days of wildlife sightings and got to experience all day light as we moved further north. Highly recommended.

The trail is pretty easy — a clear and reasonably wide path the whole way and two different viewpoints at the end. Nice view down two different valleys, great view of Tombstone mountain too.

The only easy-to-find trail is right at the trailhead for about 50 m, after that it mostly disappears. It’s fine to walk amongst the tussocks up to and along the ridges — I would say that the trail is on the hard side of easy since you have to watch your step on uneven ground, but it’s not arduous by any means. (We didn’t go all the way to the end.) A nice view down to the Blackstone River.

Tried doing the full thing during a storm. Got to where it flattens out and started taking photos of the epic views and then the mosquitoes came. I had no spray and they started a trail behind me. I couldn’t do it and abandoned all hope. Bring spray or wear one of those damn spiral things as a necklace. The trail is more of a guide, as is most things around here it seems. Aka make your own trail if you want.

Spent 4 days and 3 nights in backcountry Tombstone early July 2019 and my mind was blown. Registration at the info centre is a must, along with acquiring your bear barrel. Day 1 was a full (6 hr) difficult hike from the trail head to Grizzly Lake. Some forest/shade/ stable ground to begin, and mostly up. From there on out, lots of exposure, rock jumping, stunning views, and a clear trail. Day 2 was a shorter (4hr) though more intense hike across the Glissade Pass - directly up on loose-ish ground, down scree, then a picturesque trail to Divide Lake. A 4hr return trip day hike to Talus Lake from there, on softer, less vertical and rocky ground. Day 3 we returned to Grizzly Lake from Divide Lake. Ascending the scree was intense, and we lost the trail, but made it! A 3 hr return trip hike from Grizzly to Twin Lakes is possible from here. Day 4 we hiked back out, challenged, tired and sore but in absolutely awe of this raw, mountainous, tundra landscape.

Unique trail, was alot of fun! Trail is pretty defined but gets challenging the further you go up. There is a rest stop with a couple of benches near the top.
