Completed it today (12/10/19) Still doable if you are comfortable hiking in snow! Was decently packed, I didn’t use my crampons but did used my poles. We had a dog and he did fine but had previous experience. Couple hours up, way down was very slippery with the mud melting. Views were okay... JK is was stunning! Start early for better conditions!

Loved the different terrain + elevation gains. The colours were beautiful, and the peak outs at the top of the cliffs were stunning. Will be coming back. Cool spot for caves too.

Wonderful sunrise hike! I started today (Oct. 20) at 7.30 AM and didn’t see a soul until I finished around 9:00. Definitely go up to the third lake above the Grassi Lakes—stunning mountain backdrop! Perfect trail conditions (no ice).

Lovely walk in the park. Almost no snow until you reach 1800 metres of elevation. bring crampons, it is icy. Be very vigilant once you reach the scramble part - it's easy to get off trail. The real trail is nicely marked, so if you don't see any blue squares you need to turn around.

Hiking it next week how are the trail conditions?

Easy walk and well maintained trail. Small waterfall at the end but great mountain views along the way.

Excellent trail, agree that it could be rated easy-moderate. I think end of September into October is a beautiful time to go - fall colours, sunshine even when it’s 2oC. The waterfall is a nice bonus at the end. Water is very low at this time of year, easy to jump over creek, but do wear hiking boots.

Great little hike. Definitely go past the bench area/base of the fall. The folks ahead of us said that the bench area was the end, but I remember reading that there was a waterfall... keep going on the trail and it’s definitely there! Goes right up to the top of the falls. Super nice. A couple of steep parts heading up to the top of the falls, but did it in just hiking shoes. Definitely would need crampons if there were snow.

Great fall hike! Saw a coyote cross the trail in front of us which was exciting. Colours may have peaked earlier in the week or last weekend but still beautiful.

Great trail. Icy at the bottom so micro spikes are recommended. Deep snow around the lake and up the ridge so gators are recommended. Need to go up the ridge on the right side of the trees to go all of the way up. Lots of people were going up the left side but then you get stuck and have to go down to the right & back up again.

Absolutely amazing trail. The cave was fun to climb through.

Barely a hike

We really enjoyed this hike. Beautiful canyon views throughout. However, I would say that it's more easy than moderate. My dog (who has joint problems) could do it no problem. Bring good shoes because there are lots of loose rocks. PS I lost a glove during the hike, if anyone finds it, let me know!

Was great quick hike. The lower part was quite icy today, crampons would have been nice. But as we turned up to white Budda there was no snow and the trail was quite dry. At the top of white Budda the view is beautiful and worth the switchbacks to get up there. I would recommend an extra sweater up there as it’s very windy.

Because of a road closure right when we got off the highway, we parked at the gate and walked in to the start of the trail which added about 18 min on either end. We went clockwise as recommended- and I’m really glad we did. It was beautiful!! We used our cleats for most of the way up and through Cory Pass and down the whole super snowy section on the back side of the mountain. If others hadn’t broken the trail for us that day, it might have been hard to find our way safely. Once we came back to a south facing slope, we we descended rather quickly. In total it took us 6 hours. Super solid hike! Bring all the layers!

Late afternoon hike up Grizzly Peak Trail in Kananaskis Thursday Oct. 17th. Given the good weather the past several days I was banking on decent trail conditions so I decided to attempt this hike again before winter. The trail was in good condition 90% clear of snow and not too muddy. I could follow it all the way to the top. The weather started out fine for this time of year - partly cloudy, occasional sun, and mild temperature … then around 4 pm the wind started gusting, heavy cloud cover rolled in and temperature dropped. Good thing I was done by then and headed on down. Great fun. May not be a hike for beginners it is more for experienced hikers in good physical condition especially when there is snow.

Very beautiful view from the top. Definitely continue the trail up the backside to overlook both lakes. The view is gorgeous from up rope and worth the climb. There is a sign that says enter at your own risk but it’s not icy at all. Very gorgeous!

Fantastic hike, great views, very windy on the top. Fair amount of snow near the top so crampons are helpful

The trail was great. It was not slippery.

A nice hike.
