Getting to the "parking" when you know where it is is easy enough but you're just parking on the road you're eventually going to hike. You then walk to where you park for the winter start of the trail and that's when the hike actually begins. The trail started nice enough by walking through a rolling hill field and then up into the forest however due to the bugs once in the forest, we turned around after about 3 mins and literally ran our way back to the safety of the sun/breeze. The trail itself (what little we saw) was beautiful but I would recommend avoiding it until bug season is over because they will swarm enough to ruin the hike.

Great Hike.
This time of year you don't need snowshoes. There are handful of steep ascent and descent, so you may need hiking poles for traction. Or you can old school and walk along the snow adjacent to the trail for more traction when ascending or descending.

I had planned to snowshoe but the trail was too packed down. Instead I hiked with poles - was difficult but very pretty. Some very steep sections where I wished I had cleats.

Very enjoyable route for snowshoeing. Some steep slopes that are challenging in winter but the varied terrain makes for a rewarding route that travels through different patches of forest and open field. There is also a fire pit and wood available at Lac Carman should a rest be needed.

Connects with a number of other snowshoeing trails to the north and south.
