Great loop in the winter.

Thanks to all the snow we have received this year the trail is in excellent condition. The West portion is forested and has a lot of evergreens for lovely winter scenery and plenty of slopes and hills to make the trail challenging. Lac Carman is at the North end of the loop and provides lovely views. The east side of the loop is mostly rolling hills and open meadows. Can be quite busy on the weekends but quiet during the week.

SUMMER ONLY.
Do NOT try to walk/hike this trail in the winter. The signs are not clear, but the NCC Conservation Officers were out in full force and handing out tickets because the trail is for Cross Country Skiing only in the winter. ”Best used April-October” should actually say ONLY to be used April-October.
GREAT trail though. Definitely worth checking out. A few steep hills in each direction, but not too bad and lots of great views make it worth it. But wait until winter is over!

Fantastic loop for XC skiing with natural break opportunity at the Huron cabin. The #3 is incredible.

une belle vue avec une variété dans le sentier (ruisseaux, bois, vues dégagées)

Nice lake, waterfall and ruins to look at while walking. A few hills but nothing steep.

This trail is actually 12km long. We started at P15 next to Cross Loop Road; parking is on the road. In a few hundred meters we turned right on to #71 trail in a field with long grass, all the way to Cafferty Road. There were lots of wet creek crossings along the way. We turned left on Cafferty Road, going to Lac Carman. The trail #71 then turns left and winds its way up and down the hill, crossing many streams and wet spots all the way to an intersection with trail #70. Turning left to #70, down the hill, brings you back to P15.

Not sure how this trail goes from 17 to 8 to 22 - there is no connection unless you go back on 1 then to 4 then to 22. Of course if you have your head down all the time following the app it might work but then you miss all the scenery which is the reason to be out there. All nice trails but not worth this combination

It rained so it was muddy but not an issue with good hiking boots. Easy-moderate trail without too many technical sections.

Fantastic trail!!! Run counter clock!

We really enjoyed this trail but agree that you need to map out the trails in advance. We ended up tacking on an extra 3k to our hike because we took the wrong trail.

It’s pretty wet and muddy in certain areas right now but the fall colours are beautiful!

Great one to do with young kids. Nearby cafes or ice cream for after.

Not well marked for the entrance. We actually started at a gated road more by the highway & the first P15 sign. We had a 10 year old & a 5 year old with us. It was muddy/ somewhat rocky and some steep climbs. We loved it! Long walk back to our car but it was ok. It ended up being about 8k and took us 2h53.

Excellent hike this time of year to see the colours. The trail was a bit muddy in a few spots but nothing serious. Counterclockwise loop is best if you prefer to hike UP the steep parts rather than DOWN. I recommend you get there very early because when I finished around 1100, the parking lot was full with cars waiting.

Fun hike, beautiful waterfalls!

Great short trail with a few nice viewsn

nice jogging location

Good walk for the area. Anticlockwise loop best as signed - that way you do the hardest part first

This trail works the buns! It also tuckered out our 2 year old black lab. The trail (especially trail 6) was quite scenic with some stunning views of the Ottawa valley. Highly recommend!

Big part of that itinerary is awesome, but there is some winter trails and therefore some bushwalking to do ! Maybe best in the winter !

You need to park on the gravel road, so stop wherever you see a trail head. I started at p15. Nice lake with camping spot at far end.

Main challenge elevation. middle 3k has irregular trail features, views. Rest is multiuse trail.

Nice walk for young family with dog.

1st half is steep, irregular. Perfect. Nice views, lovely creek. Sunny August day, so no bugs.
