on Spirit Rock Trail

Okay trail, make sure to follow the trail on top of the cliff to get to the lookout. We followed the lake which was much better, but was not spirit rock.

Easy enough. Good for a short jaunt out.

Look out for the poison ivy, there is lots of it.

This trail was great! Took us about 1hr! Nice views of the river too! Be sure to pick up one of the trail brochures. It follows along with posts on the trail which teach you all about the forest development! Great for kids! Lots of potential poison ivy though so wear pants!

Great trail

Took my 2 girls (8 and 6) and the dog. Only recommend taking your dog if it can be carried or is pretty agile as there are some tricky spots. Great variety of scenery on this trail and the girls loved the little toys that were hidden in the rocks along the way. They started to tire at the end but made it. Agree with previous reviews about the mosquitoes as we all got a few bites along the way

Rural Rocks is a great trail. Inspiring rock formations, dense deciduous Forrest and a beautiful pond/bog. This trail is 4.1km and is sign posted as such. Not sure where 6+ came from. The sign also suggests it takes about 2 hours which is pretty accurate. I completed in 1 3/4 hour with a short break at the pond. One thing I love about this hike is that it's a full loop with no roads minimal back tracking. The south section along the road including Obese Side Trail is by far the more challenging section. There is not a lot of elevation gain but you must be able to climb over huge boulders and gaps. The other 2/3 of the trail is single track through the woods. Either head clockwise from the parking lot to complete the difficult section first, or head counterclockwise to warm up on the easy stuff and save the best for last. Mosquitoes were abundant but the sunny pond had so many dragonflies that there literally wasn't a single pest. I stood there eating an apple while the dragonflies snatched up anything that came close to me. My only complaint is that the noise from the surrounding quarry was not exactly peaceful. We need to stop destroying these amazing places.

Good trail. Maintained. Beautiful natural escarpment with challenging terrain.

The trail is actually 2.548 miles= 4.1 km.

1/2 of the trail is BREATHTAKING, the other half is completely plain. It's worth it. Do it!!
I'd say is moderate not difficult.

Lots of fun with the kids. Cool day, warm sun. Saw many other hikers out. Easy walk, staircase and walk down to bay are great but a bit slippy, hang on - but definitely go for it.

Late season on misty day. Be careful of slippery rock. Easy to hurt yourself. Still has views and a story. Worthwhile.

Good idea to start this loop trail on the left and go clockwise. The first kilometer is very challenging! Keep an eye on the blue blazes that mark the trail. Over rocks and boulders with some remarkable views. The trail does even out into a fairly easy trail through a beautiful forest and back toward the parking area.

This trail is located just north of Wiarton, Ontario. Turn left onto 13 side road and turn right onto Northacres and the parking spot (for 2 cars) is right there on the left.

Beautiful and fun hike. Beware of poison ivy though.

Great trail that take you buy the remnants of a historic home and down a rock face via a spiral staircase. It's a bit of a climb back so not recommended for those with limited mobility. The short trails takes you down to the shores of Georgian Bay. Breathtaking.
