My girlfriend and I took the trail from Barrie to Orillia and back. (Approx 75km total) It was a decent trail, not a much lake view scenery, most of the trail runs through the woods. I would NOT recommend this trail for anyone with a road bike with thin tires. The rough road and fine gravel made for a tough ride. Mountain bikes and cruisers will be fine.

mostly paved walking beside the river. pleasant.

I really enjoy biking on this trail. My kids love to stop and watch the ducks and put there feet in the water.

it could be a nicer place. IF dog owners would pick up after there dogs more often
also the portable washrooms are in horrible condition. they are not attended too as often as they should be.
also I really wish "DOG WALKERS" would not bring 5 PLUS BIG DOGS in the SMALL DOG off leash area as small dogs have gotten hurt

rode it this past Saturday with my son-in-law. Trail was in excellent shape. Met lots of users, many Shady spots which were appreciated. stopped at Shand Dam for lunch. food truck was there.

Great trail...paved and wide. Watch for cyclists.

Went yesterday for a walk with my pup and the trails were covered in red aunts, I’ve never seen so many.

Very disappointed that dogs are not allowed.

Overgrown trail. It was ok. would go back.

Trail head in Locust Hill is infested with Red Ants. We had to get our dog into the river to get them off, ran back to the car after and still had to pick about 15 off of her. We must of disturbed them on the way in because they were everywhere on the way out.
The trail seemed really overgrown this time. We havent been in a couple years.

Fantastic trail, great for dogs. Beautiful scenery with creek.

I made my own South Side Loop and it was great! A lot of variety from smooth paths to rock scrambling! There's even a river crossing! Rough, Rocky, Slopey, Bushy. Wear long pants! There might be a beaver in the area. Pack atleast 1.5L water, Sandwich, 2-3 Cereal bars.

good trail as fun for biking

This is a flat trail. You follow the grand river around the loop. You can begin anywhere off of Grand River road. Lots of free parking. Be mindful of people leisurely walking, they rarely pay attention to their surroundings. I recommend a weekday ride, less congested. I do not recommend solo rides for women in the evening, since the trail is also an artery for many unsavory individuals.

I love the Boardwalk. The walking surface is well maintained, the views are wonderful and the ambiance is terrific. It’s the best place to spend a couple of hours walking.

Very pretty, and within walking distance of home. Only opposite ends are accessible due to construction work but it was more than enough to wear out my 12 week old high energy pup! I look forward to hiking the whole loop with her.

I’d been looking forward to this for so long and it sadly missed the mark by a mile. It’s a boring walk along an old road. No where to sit and rest. You get practically run over by bikes at every turn. Definitely not worth it.

Really good to walk where there is no auto traffic.

full of ants everywhere

good trail not to exertive if your a newbie like me.

The trail is divided into two loops- 1.9 and 2.4. The 1.9 loop is beautiful and takes you through a more wooded area. The 2.4 isn’t well tended at this time of the year and seems to run more on the outside of the woods. I would imagine it would be nicer in the fall, especially once it’s been tended to.

great loop, very nicely maintained trails with boardwalks and gravel. nice views of the lake.

Good for group hiking. Easy to get lost

For travelling on foot this trail sucks! Too many cyclists. There are better trails to walk or hike on than this. There are some parts downtown though that are good to walk on but most of it should be left for the cyclists. It is a great trail to bike on though.

amazing trail! I don't like the $10 entrance fee.

There were so many different birds in this conservation area. It was very peaceful and an easy trail to hike!

There are so many trails that make up the Dundas Valley so your hike can be as long or short as you want it to be. Trail is well kept. Really enjoyed hiking here!

small and busy

Kept clean, nice view, we walk the Boardwalk frequently.
