Although it is a very nice area to walk with your dog... if your trying to stay on the designated path it’s very confusing and the trail is not marked very well.

A nice forest but it may be a victim of its own success as we found there were a lot of people on the trail when we visited. Also, we could hear the sound of a sports event going on at the Nepean sportsplex nearby, which took a little of the forest magic away. Part of the trail also borders people's backyards, which again takes away from the magic. Very flat trail - great for strollers and people with disabilities.

Great trail, but there’s always something sketchy going on in the parking lots. This also applies to many other Ottawa trails, such as the Sand Dunes trail.

Nice easy access to the Ottawa River, and usually not crowded if you want a quiet place to go with your dog (much quieter than any nearby waterfront parks, and unlike Andrew Hayden Park and Britannia beach dogs are actually allowed!!).
Not much of a hike unless you start at the Carling Avenue parking lot, but the shorter trail along the River is definitely the most scenic part!
Also a great area to kayak.

Even on a busy weekend or holiday, this trail gives every adventurer or runner a chance to see something. From the deer stand to the many varieties of birds and other 4-legged friendlies trying to grab some free seed....there is something for everyone.

The trail is quite extensive, especially with the "fire break" addition beyond the Bird Sanctuary (post 2012 wildfire)....trails are well groomed and marked so you make sure to "stay on the trails".

Enjoy the nature you may not realize is right in your own backyard on this very-walkable, multi-length trail. Pick the right trail for you or your family's abilities. Remember to bring lots of bird seed and hold your hand up.

There are outhouses right in front of the entrance... or there were. A large part of the park was demoed by an EF2 tornado Sept 21/18.

Easy hike. Well kept trails. Quiet despite location.

The recorded trail goes off trail at a few spots. Got turned around a bit where Outback trail is supposed to pickup.

Cute little forest hike. Veryyy easy and quick. Shorter than you’d think. We loved that it’s dog-friendly, but wish we’d tacked on a longer/harder trail for hiking (this loop is a walk, not a hike). Beautiful scenery :)

I walked this trail with my 8-year old daughter and a 6-year old friend. It was very easy for them and we were pleasantly surprised to see some wildlife: a toad, frogs, garter snake a woodpecker. It's very gentle. The start of the trail is the middle of a nice but not particularly memorable wood. After a few hundred metres you start walking along the rideau river with some occasional nice views. However, for much of the middle of the trail you walk very near a number of people's campsites which takes away from the feeling of being in nature. That's why I rate this trail as 2 starts. (Note to self: don't book campsites right next to this trail!)

Really nice walk! Took me around 2.5 hours for the route provided. It’s definitely not dog friendly right at the start/finish but I’d say that 3/4 of the route was dog friendly. I parked at the Old Quarry Trail parking lot and there were signs saying no dogs on the trails but I had my dog on leash the whole time and no one said anything. It wasn’t overly scenic, but it was a nice forest walk! There’s lots of ways to make the walk shorter or longer so I’d definitely do this one again!

Awesome trail. Rockhopper lives up to its name. Klondike part is easy but the Rockhopper part has lots of rocks and roots. Even some small inclines and declines. I got turned around a bit when I wa going back to the Klondike Trail so I did a bit extra. Rockhopper even goes by a pond at point. Great trail!

Easy trail for a family with lots of options to make it shorter if required. Watch the map closely as there are lots of intersections

My favourite trails to run to date. Especially love adding on Rockhopper and Outback.

Bring bug spray or move fast. I run so I never noticed but one time I got a nasty stitch and had to walk for a km and change and I got sucked dry by the mosquitoes.

Easy Trail with some great views of the beaver pond. It goes though some forest. It is relatively flat and I imagine people in wheel chairs and people pushing strollers can access it. Great for a family outing whether as a walk or a short bike ride.

This hike needs an edit. It is a great hike up until the train tracks. Once your past the train tracks the hiking area/path is closed due to excavation. I did go past the train tracks which was a mistake. It’s a good hike though up until the train tracks so I can recommend it for anyone to go up that far. Hope All Trails edits the trail.
UPDATE: Thank you All Trails for editing the trail!!!!!

An easy and short trail through mostly forest with a creek running nearby. It connects up with other trails at the far end. I saw a couple of deer at the far end. Very accessible for wheel chairs and parents with strollers I would say.

Great relaxing hike and so much to see. 7.2km Bugs only on last 200m. Would definately hike it again!

good trail. nice 1 hour total with the ruins included. lots to see, variety of scenery with a very easy path to follow.

I loved this trail. Nice and easy with one scraggly part on the Chipmunk Trail. Some cool things to see like the Lime Kiln, Views of Swamp, Wild Birdcare Centre, and we saw Wild Turkeys! Amazing Trail!

My first trail using the Alltrails app. An easy 800m jaunt.

Beautiful easy and short trail that walks through forest and over boardwalks in the swampy areas. Great place for a family walk!

Beautiful day, dry. Lots of bugs - bring bug spray

Beautiful trial in the woods with some awesome views of swamp/wetlands areas. There is a Wild Birdcare Centre here too. The trail is easy and great for anyone or a family to come explore!

•There are no picnic tables.
•No out houses.

I was at the Bruce Pit dog park it is a spacious area the path is mainly flat and accessible for people with mobility issues. There is a nice, tall canopy forested area in the back on the right side many trees have space between them to let the air to flow making it comfortable walking your dogs and you too.

Very buggy, had to jog a few parts because they were so bad! Trail was nice, fairly easy but could be a bit bumpy for a stroler. Also my car window got smashed while we were hiking and things were taken from my backseat so that really sucked, but the hike itself was nice.

Nice place for a walk. It’s mostly flat so it’s easy for everyone. Lots of recent rain and standing water meant lots of mosquitoes. Take something for the chickadees and nuthatches. They fly at you at the first junction on the north side of the loop (leaving from the Eagleson parking lot).

For travelling on foot this trail sucks! Too many cyclists. There are better trails to walk or hike on than this. There are some parts downtown though that are good to walk on but most of it should be left for the cyclists. It is a great trail to bike on though.
