Easy trail, fairly quiet, lots of birds

Better for cross country skiing than snowshoeing but enjoyable all the same. River was frozen over well so we were able to venture out!

This trail leads from the p11 parking lot. We walked the portion of this trail to the M26 marker. It was nice but the major negative was that the hum of the highway never was completely muffled out. Also, not as varied as the portion leaving from p9 and seemed to have more people. The power lines running through the middle of the trail aren't that nice either.

A nice bonus though is there lots of cute chickadees to feed!

Nothing wow but pleasant enough trail. Very flat and new growth mixed forest.

Two things stand out: the lake is pretty impressive considering this is a lake smack near the Kanata suburbs; the portion of the trail near the "North Dogsled" intersection is a lot rockier and more hilly. I would give that part 4 stars.

The area seems mostly promoted as a place for mountain bikers (there were lots of fat tire cyclists when we went) but we saw lots of walkers too.

We found street parking off 2nd line road. There are a couple of entrances.

Lots of red squirrels!

Rock and roll times.

Be careful, went hiking there with my dog today and came back he was covered in ticks.
The trails are amazing though

This map contains a trail that is off access!

Love these trails and so close to home!

Busy, lots of secondary trails. Saw 2 deers and a porcupine.

Definitely not an "easy" trail for trail running. Rather technical with many roots, rocks, and sometimes mud. It's called "Rock Hopper" for a reason. Lots of fun, but stay alert!

Not easy, but technically challenging at times with many rocks, roots, and mud.

Watch for the detours around Hurdman during LRT construction. Also, the path has been flooded under the Hurdman Bridge for quite some time. You will need to portage your bicycle around it.

Marshland trail so expect plenty of mosquitoes. The trails are also rather treacherous with rocks and tree roots that are easily tripped over.

Not good for walking . Lots bikes

Well maintained trails (thank you MBA Ottawa for your hard work)
Interesting mix of rock paths, dirt, skinnies, and features made of the good old Canadian Shield (I could swear there was a small pump track naturally formed in the bedrock).

Area closer to the road is easy and as you go deeper into the trail system it gets progressively more advanced. Also good signage throughout the network.

Encountered several hikers on the trail and they were very respectful to move over for us given the trail is primarily for MTB use.

Parking available on the side of the road where the shoulder is extra wide for room to park and get set up.

For Walking not the best option. The bikes don't let you walk at all.

Great trail with some nice lookout locations over the water. More mountain bikers than hikers though so stay aware and keep to the right to let them pass. Good terrain variety kept us interested.

Nice hike with the kids (3 and 6) and a pup.

Paved, scenic, mostly off-road. Quite busy on weekends. June 26- 28, 2015

Excellent trail system! Well groomed and maintained trails, that offer a variety of difficulty levels. My wife and I were very impressed and will be back!

Nice multi terrain hiking trails. This is a dog friendly area but please poop and scoop! These trails are more for a leisurely stroll and not for the hard core hiker.
