This trail requires to climb up and down small hills. it gives you a better view from top to the Joker Hills loop. There is not too much people around the trail. So you need to be a bit adventurer. There are a couple of small swamps that increase mosquito activity. So be ready. The trail is quiet and offer you a peaceful hiking away from others hikers.

The trail marks aren’t clear, can be easy to go off the main trail. Lots of low wet spots, bring bug spray.

Awesome hike but a lot of people walk with their dog off leash. Not all their dogs are trained. This huge dog was running around me trying to get my dog it was not fun. Watch Out

Reasonable trail without having to drive too far, located in the heart of Newmarket. Easy trail, soft & muddy this spring with some icy spots left where the sun doesn’t reach the forest floor. Moderate traffic. Lots of dogs, many off leash. Markers present, but there are several off paths that are not marked. Connects with other loops at Thornton Bales, including 99 steps. Overall, good location close to the city!

The trail is well marked and easy to follow, it usually takes 30-40minutes to walk. The trail is more difficult to walk in the winter with the build up of snow and ice. I have noticed the trail is mainly used by people with dogs, most of the dogs are not on leash. My dog and I have never encountered an aggressive dog while on this trail, it is mostly friendly well trained dogs with their owners. Overall this is a great spot to hike with a dog. I would also add, in the warmer weather I have seen people get tickets for not having their dog on a leash.

Very nice trail in the area. Marked. Few simple lookouts at the North end with open areas to picnic. Some side trails closed for research. Can get busy with good weather. Excitement 6/10 Accessibility 9/10 Challenge 6/10 Scenery 6/10 Overall Experience 7/10 Total: 6.8/10

Came in many times. Half of the time we couldn’t find the steps. Still great trail to hike.

Pretty easy and fun for 80% of the trail - then the stairs back up to the entrance is a good final push, also it’s easy to get lost along the way but you’ll find your way eventually . Good for all ages

It’s an okay trail but I defiantly don’t recommend it if you have an active dog. There’s a rusty wired fence outlining the boundaries of the forest. It’s very difficult to see and has barbed wire on the top and bottom of the fence. In my case, my dog ran into and and cut her nose pretty bad on the fence. Don’t walk it if you let your dog unleashed.
