Beautiful trail. My dog enjoyed getting into some of the mud, but the trail was in excellent condition for myself and 2 friends. Lovely day and the Fall colours are just starting.

Great hike today! A little more mud then a week ago and there was a fresh Maple tree down, but no big deal. Photo enclosed. Took the dog for the first time and he loved it too !!

Great little trail with rock walls and wooden bridges. I wouldn’t recommend bringing your dog. Some sections are overgrown and missing trail markers.

There are some mistakes at the official tracking routes. However at present it is a free trial. So I rate it three stars.

This was my first ever Hike. I couldn't have been more pleased with the entire loop. There is an incredibly steep climb at one point but it is totally worth it. There is a new wooden foot path, and scenic stops along the way. Stop at the walkway against the rock wall and take a dip to cool off. I cannot wait to come back and walk this trail again. The only awkward part is having the trail lead right thru people cottage grounds near the end of the trail.

I was pleasantly surprised by this trail. The first few kilometres are walking alongside cottages before breaking into a bit more solitude. No one but myself and my partner on the trail today. We did this loop backwards, starting on the trail from the opposite side of the beach, and ending our trip coming out of the trailhead near the front gates to the park, found that way was more downhill. No bugs until the last half of a kilometre was left on the trail. Would highly recommend!

Love this trail for snowshoeing as its quiet and not packed down immediately after every snow fall. Nice cabin to stop for a quick break/warm up if needed.

Very nice trail around lake, easy to moderate.

My husband and I had a great time here! The trails were well marked and the views were beautiful! Cant wait to come back and hike this trail in the fall.

Great trail, amazing views and the cabin was a highlight on a cold winters day.

It's been a couple of years since I hiked this trail but I remember how great it was! Make sure to have strong bug spray with you though; the flies bite and there are a lot of them!

September 2018 - Very quiet and extremely lightly trafficked. The road leading into the trail is bery bumpy and full of holes. Drive carefully. Not sure what it would be like in other seasons but it was great at the end of September. The trees started changing colours which made for great photos. We saw a wolf or coyote on the road about 10 feet from me. Not sure which is was because it took off so fast. There were zero bugs which was fantastic and made for a great hike. I didn’t see any waterfalls but the rapids were beautiful and that trail continues on if you go off the app path. The map on the app is backwards which can be confusing but it’s very easy to follow and figure it out.

This trail can again the extended do easily to get more out of the day. Great access from either Buck lake over the Beaver dam or the sign in booth toward Turtle and Clear lake. It can get a little tricky if you do not know your way around. Proper Footwear an absolute must. Very rewarding once you have it figured out.

Easy trail. All around the picturesque small lake. Children will be interested in the mosses growing along the trail. Beautiful vegetation. A little hillier than average but definitely not strenuous. Proper footwear is suggested. Great also for snow shoeing. Extension are also available through upper Turtle by a fabulous waterfall. Hickory lake extension is amazing in the winter time. Enjoy

One of my favourite trails. Enjoy a few extensions along the way to make it a bit more challenging. First extension toward High lake and then over to Poverty lake, connecting back to Buck lake. If another challenge is the order of the day then over to Helva lake , connect through the Wetlands back onto Solitaire. That is quite the hike. Lovely rest cabin along the way. Love to greet the ospreys. Wonderful!

This was an absolutely amazing hike. The check in point was a great way to gain your barings. I started in the directions of the beach and cabins. I think walking past cabins was pretty cool. Then as the hike continued you gained more and more solitude, which I loved. Gorgeous look at point if you can find it , just a couple minutes after the quartz check point. Highly recommend hiking this lake

Did the trail with our 10 and 6 year olds, it is well marked and generally easy. Only watch out is the blue trail along Turtle Lake - one section at the far end, just before it merges with the red trail, went into the mud after an elevated boardwalk section collapsed. Stick to the red trail, and best to go around the lake in a clockwise direction as this allows you to see the collapsed section just before the trail divides, and go around it.

This is a 4.3 km loop around Buck lake. The trail is a little muddy but very well maintained. Mid way through the trail, there is a small cabin to take shelter in or warm up in during the winter. The trail starts and ends at a nice little beach.

Turtle Lake loop/Clear Lake loop: This trail is a 4.7 km loop around Clear Lake and Turtle Lake. There is a floating bridge between the two lakes, but the loop can be completed without crossing the bridge. The trail is very well maintained and relatively flat with a few rolling hills.

Snowshoeing in March was super. Great trail and very quiet. Small stream crossing at southern point but stepping stones make an easy crossing. Due to snow levels had to park some distance from start Buck lake and made for a much longer walk.
