Killarney, Ontario Map

Four of us attempted counter clockwise last week of Sept. Got to Heaven Lake ~10 miles in but one of our party partially separated an achilles. We backed him out out slowly. I think the moderate rating is misleading. Parts are definitely difficult. Moderate is kind of an average. From the Crack through Hansen is constant up and down on a lot of irregular surface. If the quartzite gets wet it's slippery.
That said, what a beautiful place. We all intend to go back.

Awesome folage

Boardwalks not in good shape. Rocks quite slippery after rain night before.

I finished this trail yesterday in 4 days/3nights with three friends and myself. This was our first time on the trail and despite finishing on time, we were a bit ambitious with our pace and had 4 long days of hiking. The scenery was very rewarding. I’ll definitely be doing the loop again, although will be adding one or two nights and including the hike up to silver peak. “The Crack,” which is located about 5 hours from the trailhead travelling counterclockwise, was not very enjoyable as we were inundated with a tour bus of day hikers who were not very trail savvy. The next time I do this loop I’ll be travelling counterclockwise and aiming to pass through the crack earlier in the day on a weekday. Otherwise, great trail overall. However, I would certainly rate this trail as difficult and not moderate.

Stunning and amazing trail. combined rocks, water and beautiful flore.
not extremely hard but can't be accessible for everyone because of the last part (you will need the help of your hands to reach the top, but if you are fit enought to reach this point you can finish it) the effort is SO worth it!!

Just finished 7 nights on the trail. Arrived back at George Lake yesterday. Trail was both challenging and rewarding. Beautiful scenery and weather was very agreeable. Think I would be more inclined to rate the trail as difficult. Maybe I’m just out of shape...lol. Am definitely looking forward to going again!!

Beautiful scenery throughout the entire trail. Difficult rock scrambles in parts but overall a moderate trail.

Great hike and some beautiful views. Not very difficult over all but a few steep rocky scrambles.

Great trail for an easy day hike! did it in just over an hour and we took our time.

Spent 9 days on the trails with my wife and had an awesome time. There was SO much to see. Every stop and every camp site offered a wonderful memory. Looking forward to making the trip with my son next.

Definitely a great hike! Worth the trek for the view! - Speaking from an inexperienced hiker, this trail was manageable. A moderate-hard hike depending on your fitness level.

My absolute favorite hike in Ontario (so far). First 2.5km were a breeze - fairly flat and wide, easy to follow and peaceful. The next bit was tougher - you are climbing some big rocky/root-filled hills (starting to hit some amazing views) until the 3.5km (or so mark) - a final accession up the crack. I had to put my camera away to scamper up the steep steep rocks. Spectacular views at the top. Stopped for lunch there. It was pretty busy (we encountered 15 or more small groups or pairs of hikers in the 3.5 hours we were there) even though we went on a Tuesday morning. I loved this hike. Gorgeous in the fall. Would love to do the whole La Cloche Sillouhette Loop next!

Amazing trail

Depending on your fitness level and hiking experience I would rate this hike as a mod-hard trail. Absolutely worth the climb for the view. The beginning walkthrough is nice and easy then the climbing begins. A few small climbs and descents until the main climb through the crack up to the viewpoint.

Amazing hike, much preffered over Silver Peak even!

Nice afternoon hike. A bit slippery on the rocks in a few places.

awesome warm up hike for the weekend. we ended our hike with a refreshing dip in the lake.

Fun and challenging hike. Great views.

Quick, moderate hike. Great views.

Nice and easy hike. Trails are well marked. Trail from George lake camping area A is 10 min bike ride.

Very beautiful view of Georgian Bay! Well worth the hike!
However the trail isn't well marked in the very rocky areas. Quite a few of the boardwalks on the way out have also fallen in disrepair (several nails missing or sticking out of the wood, & several planks are loose or rotten).

The pictures don't do it justice ! The mountains are beautiful ! The trail is very well marked and maintained :)

A nice easy walk. Perfect for if you arrive in the afternoon. Nice views. Very quiet.

Tricky track. Pristine. Filter water well. I had stomach issues both times I did this trail.

Beautiful rocky trail with a gorgeous lake view (perfect for a lunch/water break, or a quick swim). Forested trail has a lot of roots in parts, so watch your feet. Rocky area near the midway part of the trail could be marked better.

I wouldn't describe this trail as easy overall. There are easy sections, especially the beginning and the end, but some of the scrambling around rocks near the top was a bit challenging. Nothing too tough, but I would rank part of the trail moderate for sure. Beautiful vistas from the top. We loved the view of Georgian Bay and the islands.

Wouldn't really recommend this as a hike per se, but as a chance to see a lighthouse on Georgian Bay.
Instead of starting at the trail head indicated on this page, I would recommend driving all the way down Ontario street until you hit the closed gate access to the lighthouse. Park anywhere on the road side and the lighthouse is an easy 10 minute walk. If you want to keep hiking, continue walking away from Killarney. Other than the lighthouse access, which is clearly marked, the rest of the trail is unclear, so hike at your own risk. This is a dog friendly trail. I went early in early May and I was the only one on the trail.

I hiked this trail with my dog in May. We started the trail around 2pm. It took us about 3.5 hours in total with stops along the way. The trail wasn't too overcrowded since it was a week before the May long weekend.
It's a beautiful trail, and the view at the top definitely makes the climb worth it! It can be tough climbing some of the larger rocks along the route, and it isn't always clear where the trail is. There are lots of places to stop and take in the views along the route. Would definitely recommend this trail!

Amazing views! Make sure to wear good tread hiking shoes/boots. Rocks can be slippery to climb on when wet.
