Love this type of trail but right now the bugs are HORRIBLE couldn’t stay long, they were eating both myself and my pup alive! We started on the north end of the forest might be better on the south end.

Absolutely Fantastic Hike! Very technical as you climb many rocks and you have to follow markers so this map helped a ton cause it’s easy to get lost, but it’s well worth it! The crack part is very unique and a great time!

Walking

very short 660 stairs up the escarpment. after comings down you can continue walking along the Bruce trail to add mileage.

Hiking

Perfect hike but a touch easy. Wouldn’t call it moderate. However, beautiful views, nice shade and no bugs. Kids loved it. Very nice that it’s a figure 8 loop.

Road biking

Nice trail but the partially closed at the north end. The earliest cross-street we found to park was on Rideau Road. You can bike north from there for about 2km until the barrier.

HikingBugsGreat!

This was a good trail to go on after a heavy overnight rainfall. It wasn’t muddy at all other than a few puddles which could easily be avoided. It wasn’t as shady as some of the other trails. Don’t forget bug spray. We walked up to G28 where you can see a beaver dam from the board walk. It’s an easy trail with kids. We walked up to beaver trail so we did a little more than 8km.

HORRIBLY MAPPED TRAIL! MAYBE, MAYBE 2 MAPS ACROSS A 10km TRAIL! We spoke to many people while walking this trail, and EVERYONE complained about how awfully the trails were marked. When doing this trail, only ONE parking lot was shown on the AllTrails map, even though there was 3 attached to these trails. AND PLEASE PLEASE check for ticks!

This trail is horribly horribly marked, only two maps across 10km worth of land. We ended up getting lost and had to cut through the sub trails and they are not well maintained. BE AWARE OF TICKS!!!! please everyone be aware of ticks, and make sure you know what parking lot you are at as there is three.

HikingGreat!

If you love to see wildlife and critters this is a trail for you! Great for birds, especially if you cross the road in St. Jacobs to the Mill Race Trail. Every time I walk this area I see something, turtles, deer, frogs. It can be a little busy at times, but most parts the trail is pretty wide. Watch out for Giant Hogsweed, the township is pretty on top of it though.

start to finish it was 19.6 km. amazing views but definitely not kid or pet friendly. Two 35 year old hikers, who are in good shape and hike weekly and this was challenging terrain for good portions of the trail - made even more difficult because of the slipper rocks. a great workout, but I would say this was moderate to difficult. as you go further along there are some pretty narrow parts of the trail with sudden cliff drop offs. Leave your dogs at home and be sure to wear proper footware. Bring a small backpack and make sure you have water .
