Did St. Thomas to Port Stanley section in 5:40. Beautiful trails, lots of up and down. Fairly overgrown in spots and trees down blocking trail between just north of John Wise to just north of Sparta Line. Blazes are faded along that section too but identified after a little searching. Section entering at Union Rd has closed sections due to private new homes being built so we just followed union road right in to Port Stanley. Saw lots of deer and a tiny 1.5 inch snake. Quite a few puffballs too-friends took one home to eat:)
All in all a beautiful hike. Have hiked sections of this trail in all four seasons and all are amazing! Must do sunset in the dunes just north of Southdale but south of Shaw valley road/path.

open at least until ron McNeil. a good workout! nice views. clean. not too busy.

Overgrown trail. It was ok. would go back.

The trail is divided into two loops- 1.9 and 2.4. The 1.9 loop is beautiful and takes you through a more wooded area. The 2.4 isn’t well tended at this time of the year and seems to run more on the outside of the woods. I would imagine it would be nicer in the fall, especially once it’s been tended to.

There were so many different birds in this conservation area. It was very peaceful and an easy trail to hike!

once we found the sheddon entrance .. that's the tricky part. we discovered a fantastic trail full of beautiful scenery and semi challenging Touraine. it had been a wet spring so some spots were mud filled but our journey from there to part way past Lyle Rd was great. can't wait to explore more next time. The only downside is that being a straight run you have to fight the urge to want to see what's around the next corner because what you walked in...you have to walk back from.

Nice, easy & fun for beginners
The only downfall is that it was really difficult to find

Last fall on a beautiful day. it was a great day out with the teenagers and great opportunity for pictures. Close to home we will definately be back.

Nice woodland trail with a river running through it. Great photo opportunities from a pedestrian bridge.

Great trail but please hikers...pick up after your dogs!

Done first 10.3 km from the beggining. There was a huge sunflower field at the corner from Lyle Rd., which must be beautiful during summer. Passing through the horse farm, and a lot of ups and downs along the river. Fairly fun to go through variety of scenery and hills.

Just an update on the trail . I spoke to the Kettle Creek Conservation people about this trail . They said that the funds have become available to open Dalewood North again . The trail clearing will start in the fall of 2017 . This will put the St Thomas trails back on the map and will complete the trail to the Dam Patterson . I will post again when I have confirmed it as open . K !!

This trail has been closed for a number of years . Does anyone know if it is officially open again ? K

I agree this is a must for walkers and hikers . I thought a little short for backpacking but would have been more leisurely in the autumn . We went in the summer and got eaten alive . We dress in full fatigues so ticks aren't a concern for us but shorts maybe questionable attire here . We will revisit this gem in the fall , cheers . K

It was an awesome hike once we found the trail. The online maps were fairly off and there was huge gap between the blazes at the beginning (Port Stanley). We spent about an hour and a half just looking for the starting point (we later found that there are trail maps in Mackie's). Otherwise, we hiked the first 10km and it was great!

Overgrown throughout. Worried for our dogs with respect to ticks.

Great easy short 7km ride. Couple of short hills and great views along the way.

Nice trail has some overgrown spots through it and needs some major clean-up in sections as parts of the trail are under construction or closed off completely
