Lovely hike to a lovely waterfall. Nice and short, does what it says on the tin. Camping/ picnic area a great spot for lunch.

some of the trail was very overgrown, although still visible.

I would recommend the trail to friends!

Great trail. Though there is a long portion along the old railway (Rum Runner trail) to get to the base of Castle Rock Mtn it follows along a picturesque creek, ponds and Labrador Lake. If you cycle the rail trail part there is a bike stand to lock up your bikes before doing the Castle Rock climb.

Note the parking location is not signed on Hwy 329 and access to it is right where the trail crosses 329 and looks like you will drive down the trail on the east side. But if you use this map it will help you locate it.

Got to run with the dog off leash !

This was only my second hike ever, parts were challenging, but overall great trail and view at the top. Can’t wait to try the rest of the loops!

Enjoyable hike. The bottom paths are wider and flatter than the trails to the lakes. There are plenty of side paths to get yourself turned around. Very little in the way of trail marking but the paths are pretty easy to follow. The app was helpful, but you may lose cell reception at the far end of the trail.

The trail was quite clean with no litter and only a few rusted artifacts. I will be coming back.

Absolutely awesome. Had my six year old ride along side for 16kms and my three year old in a bike trailer all the way to Lawrencetown beach. My wife stayed with the kids while I rode back to Bissett Lake to get the car. Great day!

Great walking trail.

Beautiful views.

Good to do with very young kids or dogs. A casual walk more than a hike experience.

Sort of boring hike until you get off logging road which is also used by ATVs. Nice view on bedrock top at the end though.

Did this as a family 2 years ago and loved it! 7.5 hours at a leisurely pace. Beautiful scenery.

Best done in May before bugs and people come out! Or in the Fall maybe.

Fairly easy to follow even with a few bunny trails when on the Kearney Lake side of the lake but was unable to find crossing to the other side to complete loop. Even created own crossing but not able to re-locate trail on other side. Had to u-turn. Will try to do trail counter clockwise next time and hopefully find crossing.

Once we reached the trail it easy enough to follow. Lake was pretty. We parked at Maskwa and walked in from there. We relied on our GPS doing it this way and added 2km to our hike. Also got to see Charlies Lake by taking this route.

Awesome 360° views! We parked, then biked the Chester Connection Trail from the visitor center - about 7 miles to the well marked trail head.

Relatively easy hike (in SPD’s) to the top. Views are one of the best kept secrets in the area. A must do.

Great biking trail! Scenic, well-groomed. Came out at Lawrencetown Beach - fantastic spot to stop and rest and then turn around and head back. Love it!

Nice easy hike but I only gave it 3 stars because 6k of 9k are on the rails to trails. Nice view of Mahone Bay when you get to the top of Castle Rock.

Quiet and peaceful, will def be back!

Nice cold pool to dip your feet in at the base of the pretty waterfall. Worth the short hike.

a great hike with an awesome view from the top. I'm very glad I went and will be heading up there again for sure!

good trail. pretty standard.

Beautiful trail and views. We picked a very hot and humid day to hike here and will choose a cooler day next time. Luckily, we had lots of water with us and we took our time! Highly recommend this trail.

First part of trail is walking through loose large gravel/rocks. With lots of water. There are multiple paths to get through so you don’t have to get wet. Once you get deeper in trail is better to walk to n. With the two tracks there are lots of pathways to go through. Main trail is not well marked so is very easy to go off the main trail onto a separate side trail. AllTrails app was essential to get back on track when we veered off course.

Great hike. Trail can be a little hard to follow at times. We used our phone’s gps to keep us going in the right direction. Lots roots and rocks to be mindful of. Some steep climbs.

Castle Rock Trails are accessed from the Chester Connection Trail. There are currently three trails with varying degrees of difficulty and appropriate uses. Wayfinding posts are now in place and a trailhead kiosk is coming soon. There is parking in East River alongside the rail trail. Up to date information and a trail map is available from www.chester.ca. This is a new property for the Municipality of Chester. Your feedback is always welcome. Enjoy everyone. It's a lovely hike.
