This is an excellent hike with a couple different look offs and unbelievable views. Lots of stairs throughout the steep sections, but a well maintained and marked route. We hiked it November 2nd and although we missed the foliage, we also missed the crowds. I’m sure during peak season this would be packed at the summit. Very rewarding hike though. Took us about two and half hours because we stopped to make a coffee at the top and enjoy the view.

Very pretty trail with some great coastal scenery. There are a number of scenic lookouts and areas to explore, with a couple of them were overgrown with downed trees. Can also get muddy in areas. This trail is probably on the harder end of easy difficulty as it has a few small hills as well as a rocky area or two.

Awesome trail with top notch views. The walk to the top can give you some good exercise but there are also gaps in between inclines and sets of stairs. Consider making this an out and back hike instead of a loop, as the scenery on the harder part of the trail is better. The road down isn't a total bore, but its not quite as interesting and can get muddy.

Wonderful trail with breathtaking views to the Clyburn valley and Atlantic coastline. I missed to return this Fall but definitely will be back next year for fall foliage.

This was our end of day hike (the third hike of the day). It was a great way to finish the day...relatively easy with great views.

Amazing hike! It wasn’t my first time hiking Franey and it won’t be my last...tough climb but the view is amazing and the colours in the fall are unforgettable. The road to the parking lot is good and there’s amble parking.

Very wonderful. Took us about 2 hours. Steep road going up to the trailhead but our Honda Fit slowly made it. The parking lot was full on a beautiful Wednesday at 1:30.

Great intro to the Cabot trail. This narrow neck of land juts well out to the sea, allowing some perspective on the regional geography and topography. Easy path, well marked and maintained with numerous vantage points and beautiful views over sea cliffs to south across the bay to Cape Smokey; Ingonish island and mountains across the bay to the north.

Beautiful! Trail is well maintained and well marked, view from the top is absolutely amazing. Highly recommend. We hiked in and out the same way because of other reviews suggesting the service road down was not as nice.

Did it as an out and back and loved it both directions. You’ll need to evaluate for yourself as you climb if it is suitable for you to descend. Beautiful views, small water sources (great for dogs to have a drink) and some amazing trees - check out the one at the 3km marker!! Doesn’t get much better in my opinion.

Beautiful view at the top! Steady climb to the top with some moderate challenge, the way down felt like walking down a gravel road - very easy descent. As a side note, Was lucky enough to see my first eastern green smooth snake at the top! And on the way down, lots of partridge.
