First part of trail is walking through loose large gravel/rocks. With lots of water. There are multiple paths to get through so you don’t have to get wet. Once you get deeper in trail is better to walk to n. With the two tracks there are lots of pathways to go through. Main trail is not well marked so is very easy to go off the main trail onto a separate side trail. AllTrails app was essential to get back on track when we veered off course.

It’s amazing trail. I would recommend it as it is really moderate compared to most of the moderate trails in Nova Scotia. Most of the time you walk into forest but several amazing views make the trail really beautiful.
Bring bug spray.

Did the hike with our 9 month old in a back pack carrier and it was lovely!

Nice quick spin. Took about 4h with a full pack (testing some new gear for Chignecto). Definitely a MTB trail - first few kms are fairly flat or gradual, but between the rocky road surface and roots one should opt for ankle support. After a day of rain there is a fair amount of standing water in spots (esp on secondary trails). but there are developed trails to bypass the worst spots. Great lakeside spot to hang a hammock at the very end.

Very nice trail. Bring bug spray tho.

Would recommend. :)

In the past I’ve completed this trail but the other day two of us tried to do it and a fallen tree caused us to go around and we weren’t able to find the trail again and we’re forced to turn around. Would love it if someone could either add more trail markers or make the path more obvious so people don’t get lost. Also, there’s private property which is easy to accidentally venture into. Trail was hard to find

Beautiful hikes with lots of great surprises along the way!

Was a hike that gave a great variety hiking levels! Looking forward to going again.

Great trail with lots of granite, new entrance on Alabaster way is nice with easy access. Lots of options for almost every level of rider. One of my favourites around Halifax.
Nice to see a fair amount of work is being done on the trails.

Very technical, but no markings!

Good and on the harder side and can make it shorter by just going to skull rock which is just off the trail!

We went at a steady pace and completed the loop in 3 hours. It would be easy to spend a lot longer at all the look offs. Great views.

Trail description should include Spider Lake reference.

The sign isn't joking when it says to budget 45min/km. Worth every minute, absolutely stunning views.

Fantastic! Strenuous climb worth it for the spectacular views. The trails are well signed and marked clearly with flags.

Not long, but not an easy hike, along a rock-strewn path (the Admiral Lake loop), up and down a ridge. The path to and from the loop is wide, flat and gravelled; pleasant enough if you have children or aren't in the best of shape.

Great hike, not far from the city. Once on the trail it's well marked. However there comes a point in the beginning with a fork in the road that isn't well marked.

Rail Trail is quite level and well defined. The Admiral's Loop is also relatively easy to follow, at least the trail with the yellow markers. The views are spectacular and well worth the effort to get there. It is however a rigorous hike not meant for anyone not in decent shape. Take plenty of water and pictures. Took approximately 5.5 hours including walk from parking lot and back.

The Admiral Lake Loop was a great hike, it's very rough natural terrain, every vista was beautiful. Took us about 4 hours to complete it, I cannot wait to go again.
