The park offers a variety of activity options including a fully serviced campground, recreational facilities, canoe/kayak rentals and access, hiking, biking and walking trails, a beach, and off-leash dog trails. The trails feature interpretative panels discussing the historic importance of the area as a portion of the Shubenacadie Canal. The trail system is extensive with numerous footpaths and offshoots, with navigation being difficult at times. Accessibility: The trail surface is gravel and typically at least six feet wide. Only around the southern portion of the trail around the smaller lake and the Fairbanks Center is the grade gentle enough to be wheelchair and stroller friendly. The other sections of the trail have a steep grade estimated between 8% and 12% where assistance would likely be needed.Show more
