on Bighill Lake Trail

While some of this trail passes through bogs, most crosses and traverses smooth rock domes, exposed to breezes and allowing views of the surrounding countryside. The trail is well-marked with yellow and orange tags. We hiked the trail in early July 2018, after a period of extensive, unexpected rain, and some of the bogs were flooded. In most cases, small logs were laid down so that you could cross the standing water; in other cases, alternative routes were laid out. The views from some of the rocks were very nice, providing an excellent panorama. It was generally fairly easy, with only a few spots where scrambling was necessary, but we would recommend sturdy shoes.

This is an unmarked route along Rocky ridges in the forest. No trailhead, no parking. Easy to get lost. Scenic value involves bushwhacking. Suitable for moose.
