Amazingly boring and pointless trail with zero views. Could walk in the forest near my home instead of driving four hours to the park.

Decent hike, agree with another reviewer that there’s no real peak to climb too but a nice hike nonetheless. We did it with three kids (4,6,7) with minimal difficulty. Lots of mountain bikers. Trails are very well marked.

A nice and easy hike in both the summer and winter.

Excellent hike which brings you all the best the canyon has to offer! Waterfalls and do watch out for wildlife. This trail goes to the 5th bridge but you can add on the further 1.7km (one way) to the 6th bridge if you choose (easy and flat terrain). This hike is rated moderate because using 7h to get back to parking is extremely steep right where you join it after the turn at 5th bridge. It does level off after a while and then it’s easy to the end.

Must go early to avoid the mass amounts of tourists at Johnston Canyon! Easy track overall.

Such a gorgeous view! I am a beginner and was still able to manage. It was really tough and I took my time; took about 2 and a half hours. I recommend going early or on a week day.

This trail was like being in another world. From small log bridges, lush waterfalls, climbing caves, and fields of wildflowers!

Be aware of a wasp nest at the beginning of the first waterfall. We passed many others who also got stung!!

We started on the Hartley road and used a off roading suspended Jeep to travel to the second parking lot. There were other trucks that went to the second parking lot as well.

Its hard to capture the beauty of this place with pictures

The parking lot is full by around 630am. Make sure to be there early

Very noisy close to highway. I like the rugged path, I worked up a sweat through the nice forest but nothing really to look at. Went off the path to get closer look at lake. Unfortunately I saw dead birds, tires, an old propane tank and rubber balls. On path not too much garbage at all but off the path theres some dumping. No dog poop thanl goodness! Will try next time with mountain bike or binoculars for bird watching. Not the nicest to see smoke stacks in the sunset.

Keep to the left on all of the forks, it’s pretty much up hill the whole way up the logging roads. Beautiful views at the top. Great cardio.

Trailhead could be better marked and the trail through the scree could be better marked as well. Otherwise an exceptional CHALLENGING hike with great nature views.

beautiful view

Super fun hike! However, if you do plan on going off the Woodland Loop trail and go to see the Sawblade Falls, the water level is quite low around this time of year so the falls will be quite small. Still a beautiful spot, and a beautiful hike!

Great alternative to the Grotto! I found the trail itself and the lookouts very similar to the Bruce Peninsula National Park, but with fewer people. I would definitely do this trail again.

Beautiful! Great loop. Love the board walk down.

Nice trail, easy enough for kids, and yeah, those big pines are a sight to see!

Although the trailhead was hard to find ( we had to ask local people as the app was off) this hike is great. We did it clockwise getting up the steepest part of the trail (Ridge trail and Crater Rim trail) and going down on the more gradual part (Farside trail). The Fareside trail follows the river, it’s beautiful.

It’s basically an old logging road. Gravel and rocks the whole way. Pretty much uphill the entire hike. Only saw 5 other hikers the entire time. Not well marked, we had no idea if we were even walking up the right trail until we met other people about 2/3 of the way up and they confirmed it was.

Great scramble! Absolutely doable without ropes.
It’s a workout. What a blast!!!

The entry of the trail is really hard to find. Parking in the street. But the forest looks amazing.

Awesome hike we continued on after we got to Morte Lake. It was 9.3 km from parking lot around the lake return.

I'd suggest you pass over this hike and consider something else. it was super easy and anti climactic.

pretty easy for the views...well worth it.

No good views today due to the smoke in the air. We tried the loop, but the trail was to steep, very small and too dificult for us. We turned arround after a half hour and took the normal trail back. Maybe it is better to do the loop counter clock wise.

hiked in through moosehorn and out through laverty. It was a great hike with no bugs! took about 3 hours plus stopped and swam at the falls for a bit

Did the Lilian Lake and all the way to Galatea Lake. Not too bad today considering the smoke. The trees kinda filtered it down a bit. Went fairly early and wasn’t too busy. First half is in the shade and rolling up and down. Lots of bridges, we counted about 10. :) Brought our dog and it was great, not too hard for them. If you’re going to do Lilian Lake, do the Galatea Lake as well, as it isn’t that far. Check it off your list. Done about less than 5 hours.

Great hike. Lots of mountain scenery. Lake was pretty. Hike off trail at the lake up to a snow field with great views of the lake. There was smoke from the fires in Glacier Park on the US side.

Definitely not a bike path!! Lol. The walk is thru the forest and it is full of ups and downs with rocks and tree roots exposed. We took the key hole path and it is definitely something to see and do.

Bring your bug spray, hiking stick, good hiking shoes and lots of water. It is a beautiful walk!
