Good first of the season hike. Some gulley climbing to keep you honest. Good one to wake the legs up

Great hike for everyone, even those just starting out. Come prepared with bug spray, water, snacks and all other suggestions from the NorthShoreRescuePage. Hiking it Friday, June 14th and weather was perfect with a slight breeze and snow gone from the path. My group and I did hike back at dusk and about half way back we did hear a strange sound coming from a ways away. After a couple of KM that noise seemed to of followed us and was very close at this stage. We did not see it thankfully but our speculations were that it was a cougar following us. Make sure you are safe and prepared when hiking to enjoy this great trail.

June 12th, dry until near the top where there were a few muddy sections. Snow is pretty much all gone except a few patches near the top. Bugs were out today!

Nice walk. Some beautiful green scenery the other half was gravel. It took just under 3 hrs. I made it to Park Royal Mall. The next leg going to Ambleside I did not do as I have already done that section. Plus I don’t consider beach walks hikes.

Took a class of 9-13 year olds out today. Great hike. Completed in 3.5 hours with 0.5 hour lunch at washed out bridge. Tadpoles in pools. Brush is high along cut near end of trail so watch for trail out.

We started this hike from the Ambleside Park just past the washrooms. The hike/walk to the dam, hatchery and back was 17.5 km. Very scenic well-maintained Trail that takes you mostly through the forest .

wear appropriate shoes, it's a tricky hike with lots of roots, and even more slippery in the mud and snow saw lots of ppl in just runners and even sandals. Again very muddy right now. make sure it's a hike your dog is ready for saw some people having to carry their small dogs. overall great hike nice views had lunch up there before heading back down, stopped at lions bay veiwpoint. also didn't realize it's a loop there's two paths to go up that meet in the middle. before hiking the rest of the way up.

If someone here speaks Russian, then this review is for you, if not, use Google translator. This is my first trip to the mountains in Vancouver and I highly recommend that you go here. The beginning is very good and easy, and then you have to climb through the dirt and roots of trees, at the very peak it is even possible that there will be snow. In clear weather you will get a great view of the strait and the local small islands, with fog it will be necessary to wait 5-20 minutes, because with strong wind the fog will blow off. Getting lost is almost impossible, because everywhere there are pointers or orange marks that need to be followed. In general, a very beautiful day.

Bit of mud on the trail, clear of snow. Cute lakes along the way, very busy at the viewpoint on a Sunday.

Went with my 4year old son. It was an easy climb as we didn’t sweat as much as the BCMC last week. We had lunch by the cabin lake. Some people were very loud and obnoxious... If you’re going on nature walks, avoid playing your obnoxious music and shouting &laughing out loud... It’s pure curtesy.

beautiful view!

Dog friendly hike. Pretty easy hike took around 2 hours. The bridge not being there was no problem very easy to walk over the rocks.

Went early in the morning so lots of fog but apparently it clears out during later in the day. Beginning was the hardest and after the trail gets easier. Features several lakes.

Path in good shape - lots of markers. Hiking boots recommended.

Awesome view point at the top, muddy in the tree roots and some snow towards the top but totally hikeable without issue.

This isn’t much of a hike, length or scenery wise, but the lake is fun to spend a sunny afternoon at. Go during a weekday if possible to avoid the crowds.

Started off easy, few switch backs, but then the human made trail ends and it gets pretty rocky and muddy. Took 4.5hrs round trip. Brought my dog and she LOVED it!

The views at the top were breathtaking and definitely make this hike worth it. The trail was busy towards the summit, but otherwise not too crowded. The first part of the trail starts off dry and rocky. The middle part has a lot of roots. I had wished I had brought hiking poles for this section as it would have made descending much easier/safer. The last part is a mix of extremely muddy, hiking through a creek, and snowy... this made it my dog's favorite part. I would highly recommend actual hiking shoes for this part. I saw a lot of people in regular tennis shoes struggling. I wish I had brought bug spray as the bugs were fairly active. NOTE TO THOSE HIKING WITH THEIR DOG: The western loop at the beginning does NOT allow dogs due to the sensitive habitat. Make sure the take the eastern side of the loop on both the ascent and descent to avoid disturbing the sensitive habitat and obtaining a possible fine.

A nice jaunt up, if you're prepared for snow still of course. Continuous packed snow starts at about 1150m elevation. Plenty of mud below that. Fairly quiet for a nice Sunday, maybe 8 or 10 other parties. Snow wasn't too much of a big deal but be prepared for it for a few more weeks at least.

Great hike. We did it in 3 hours, hiking at a good pace. Be prepared to use your hands in some areas to grip tree roots where the trail gets steep. The views are stunning from the top and the last quarter of the trail is quite muddy. I wore hiking boots but think sneakers will be fine if you are an advanced hiker.

Nice trail, definitely wouldn’t rate as moderate. Easy for sure for any regular hikers out there. Started at the Brother’s Creek Trailhead, crossed the creek and did the extra 2.4km to Blue Gentian Lake and back, came down to the road at the Lawson Creek Trailhead and walked back to the starting point via Millstream Road. Some confusion with trail markers as others have pointed out. As for the bridge that’s out, we crossed the creek bed easily; water level is low so it’s easy to walk across the rocks.
