Easy walk with views of the Skeena river surrounding the island. There are other side trails so you don't have do the whole trail if you don't want to. The trail can get muddy in the fall and winter months in some parts.

Did this hike at the end of June with my dog, the lake at the camping area is stunning, and amazing views of kalum lake and surrounding mountain ranges. Horseflies were ruthless but I guess that’s a necessary evil.

Mostly easy rolling trail but there is a section of mountain we climbed, had to watch footing and I was crouching low to climb (almost on my hands). I managed to do the hike despite having a plantar fasciitis flareup. Watch the swamp boardwalks as some spots are getting rotten through.

Probably one of the most beautiful hikes in the area. The main logging road is well marked, although not alot of parking at trail head. Park by main trail head sign which is still on spur of logging road, then about 40 minutes to treeline trailhead, from there a well groomed trail for about 1 1/2 hrs to the small lake with spectacular views. There are tenting stations and a steel food stash. From there trail gets a little more traverse but if your willing to keep going the views just keep getting better and better.

The access road requires a 4x4 to tackle the last half of the road. My Mazda CX5 all-wheel would have really struggled as the last bit is a steep narrow unmaintained road full of ruts from rainstorms. There are 2 pull-offs along the way that can park a small car and walk the road from there. Parked at the first off the highway and walked the toad 0.8 km to the trailhead. 1.0km moderate hike from trailhead to the lake.

This is an easy trail walk with views of the river channels around it and views of the surrounding mountain valleys. Caution is needed when the river is flooding, usually May, as trails will flood too. And in August-September there are usually bear in area warnings.
