Hiking

The main mountain was closed for hiking due to construction of a new lift so relegated to the adjacent hill. Boring uphill walk and worse downhill. Don’t bother.

HikingGreat!

We loved our afternoon of hiking at the top of the gondola. The signs were great up until Tod Lake and then they got pretty sketchy...we ended up lost a couple of times but that just added to the adventure. To view my short YouTube review of this hike: https://youtu.be/t0jnQ5oxoSs

Great hike! Amazing wildflowers from mid July to mid August. Absolutely breathtaking views in multiple locations. The hike up to Tod Mountain peak is well worth the effort. Trail was in great shape Aug. 24. Highly recommend this hike!

3.5 stars. The trails in the forest were much nicer than the trails up the ski hills in the sun.

Getting off the main roads to the "single track" trails improves this significantly. Lots of bugs even early afternoon in late August.

Really scenic trail. Very beautiful with all of the wild flowers. Signage was great. Would definitely recommend going the extra 20 minute from Tod Lake to get to the peak.

Hike from the road isn't so pleasant, but it improves after that. A lot of exposure with some steep sandy parts. 3.5 stars.

Unfortunately we picked one of the hottest days of the year to do this hike. But the beautiful alpine wildflowers and the view made it totally worthwhile!

very easy to follow - either through this app or the trail map by sun peaks. the photos don't do it justice! the scenery along the way was absolutely gorgeous!

Hiking

Good trail, varying between single and double track. Trail mostly shaded. Beautiful lookouts. There are a couple of sidetrack trails to lookouts that are well worthwhile. Trail in generally good condition. A few of the foot bridges and fence crossings are damaged, but can be passed or worked around. It rained two days ago, but most of trail dry. There are a couple of muddy patches. Most blown down trees have been cut, trail maintenance appears to be active here.

We started from Heffley Lake Rec site and our GPS had it a 10.5km hike. Beautiful hike, with different trail options. If you’re the first at the top and you see the “<—- Lookout” sign don’t turn to your hiking buddies and yell LOOKOUT!...... they might not find it funny.

HikingBugsGreat!

Great trail. A little steep at the start, but having a truck/SUV to be able to get to P2 helps a lot. Great views without having to pay for the chairlift up at Sun Peaks. Bugs were very bad, but lather up in bug spray and you should be fine.

DO NOT drive your vehicle up the mountain road as indicated by the map. To hike this trail, as it is in the Sun Peaks Controlled Recreation Area, you must park in the VILLAGE Parking Lots 2 or 3, purchase a ticket from Guest Services and ride the chairlift to access this trail. Driving up the mountain is STRICTLY PROHIBITED as there is active Mountain Bike and Hike Park operations and heavy machinery as well as pedestrians using the road and trails.

We've been hiking Sunpeaks for about 3 years in a row now..the previous two we didn't quite make it to the summit of Mt. Todd but the last one we pushed through and finally get to be up there with a 360 degrees view of all this mountains surrounding you. Super amazing and so worth the steep hike to get there lol
