What a gorgeous paddle! It took us about an hour to paddle in through the sloughs to the campsite and we saw 5 eagles on the way there. We did the hike to the falls as a loop and took the trail there and the old road back. The paddle back to our car was faster but the tide was changing as we crossed the lake so we had to work a little harder. All in, the whole trip was about 3 1/2 hours but we didn’t spend much time at the falls. We’ll be back when the days are longer to hike to the lake.

Beautiful views. Walked to the end of the dyke and took the swan dyke road as it appeared to link up with the beginning of the trail. Once I got to the second lookout the trail thinned quite a bit but was wide enough for my dog and I to get through. That last little bit was pretty slippery and muddy, and I agree with the other reviewers who said it was a bit claustrophobic. I prefer the wide open trails. Saw some beautiful birds as well.

Beautiful scenery and sweet little village if you want a coffee after.

The views of Pitt lake and mountains are stunning.

It’s a nice trail but it’s heavily over grown. You’ll need a machete to get through some areas or just squeeze through. Wish it was better maintained. Noted a handful of bear droppings but no bear sighting.

depending on the direction you walk 1/3 very over grown. just after sign entrance.

July 28, 2018 - great day out on the water and in the trail. Make sure you get to the canoe place well before opening to guarantee yourself a canoe. A lot of big groups come and take 4-5, so getting there as early as possible to get one is essential.

Canoe ride is amazing and so calm. Everyone is super friendly and relaxed. Takes around 60-90mins one way with the hike to the falls also taking a good hour to get to. All in all it makes for a great all day out adventure lasting around 5-6 hours depending on how long you take to cool off at the falls.

June 23, 2018 - I love this paddle and hike! The paddle can take anywhere for 60-90 minutes depending on tides wind and currents. There were quite a few shallow parts today but it was worth the trouble to get up to the campsite and hike to the falls. Such a beautiful spot!!

The people at the canoe rental place are SO nice! A great local business to support :-)

July 21, 2018 - Arrived at 8:15am and there was a lengthy line to rent a canoe (day rental $80 for 2 person canoe, $100 for 4 person). We may have been one of the last groups to get a canoe, so you want to arrive early if you have a larger group! The 1 hour canoe paddle through the Widgeon Valley was so peaceful and was a nice start to the day. After parking the canoe at the campsite, we took the option of Widgeon Falls via trail which is much nicer than the service road. Very few people on the trail and weaves through the serene forest and along the creek. Others say the service road is much shorter, but it only took us 1 hour for the 2.9km trail. The falls itself are beautiful, we spent 3 hours sunbathing and wading through the areas that were calmer.

busy busy busy. always super packed. this place has gained extreme popularity over the last 5 yrs. The trails and water ways are heavily trafficked. parking is also limited. lots of people park in the Bush, notorious parking lot for break ins and fines. remember over night trips require parking permits or you'll come back and your car is gone. the slomac curse is strong with this area. remember wondering further south from the camp site you will be on private property and the folks in the community there are very odd ducks who enjoy 100% privacy

Loved it. Reach early especially over the weekends if you want to rent out a Canoe from the place itself. Those Canoes fly pretty quickly. Canoeing to the trail can take 50 mins - 90 mins each way depending on the skill level. Trail itself is not very hard. The entire experience of Canoeing and watching the widgeon falls itself is pretty rewarding:).

I was able to bike the majority of it, last bit got a little too bushy and muddy (early March). Would definitely walk it again, bicycling would probably be much better in the summer.

Beautiful day and great discovery. Loved this walk even though we went the wrong way. Walked for an hour and enjoyed the beautiful views. Lived here for 53 years, just 20 mins south, and never knew this place existed. Will be coming back to do the loop!

The first 4k are flat and wide. The rest makes you feel like you're bush whacking.

Great spot to unwind after the canoeing, camping, and hike up to Widgeon Lake on the day before. The hike is super easy (compared to getting to lake above), with tons of spots to unwind in the river, with scenic falls around you, and spots to jump into the water if you're brave. Just be careful!

Take a canoe up to the opening.

Service road to the falls makes this a very very easy hike.

For the exercise and view I would take the trail. Beginners will find it a little challenging but it's worth it and good for you :)

Nice little day trip with the family and the canoe ride is about 30-50 minutes at most.

Nice hike. Paddling can take a good 90 min each way. Take the service road as a quick way to the falls. The trail is more challenging but also more beautiful
