Great view from the top. Going at sunrise or sunset would be perfect. A lot of broken glass and butts.

Quick little scroll with the puppies!

A nice 1.5 hour , 5 KM hike with two kids. Can really make this as long or as short as you want with the amount of trails in this park.

Short and rocky, decent hike with some nice rocky beaches and ocean views

Awesome trail, beautiful views from both ridges. Lost the trail when it brought me out on the back of a housing development lot. Picked it back up, could of gnarly trees down just after the radio towers where it turn into a goat path. Had to get down on my hands and knees and crawl under one. Trail also dropped me straight out of the bush with no warning into some dudes back yard. 5/7 would hike again

A great short hike to impressive views of Nanoose harbour and the hills overlooking Nanaimo. Hiked with the 2 kids and did it in less then an hour.

fairly decent trail. Definitely need hiking shoes if you don't want your back to hurt.

Bring extra water. Many different trails. Gets steeper and steeper. Take it easy on the way down, slipping won't be a surprise.

One of my favourites. The time to get up and down completely depends on the person. Some routes on the way down are less steep but a lot of the trail is wide open and rocky with less shade at times. It’s fairly well marked but can be loose and steep at times. Dog friendly!

Short and easy. Nice for a quick run or warm up.

I really enjoyed this run. After hitting witchcraft lake, on the way back I kept going and went over to morrell lake and then around Westwood. Couldn’t have asked for more. The trails are easy to follow, well groomer, well marked and well travelled.

This is one of my faves. Dog friendly, not overly busy, well marked, decent trail. Easy to connect to make for a longer run!

on Mount Benson Loop

How awesome!!! We just hiked up Mt Benson with 5 kids! Their ages are 10, 10, 7 , 5 and 3. The 3-year-old had to be carried but the rest did pretty well. It took us 2.5-3h to get to the top, with lots of breaks. We took the straight to the top trail up and the easy one down.

Good and easy trail for me and the beagle

Nice easy hike with 3 kids under 6. Big wasp nest down by the narrows. We got swarmed while trying to have lunch.

nice afternoon or morning hike nice place to escape from everyday life.

Nice trail around Westwood Lake, well maintained and easy walking (mostly), wheel chair, and stroller accessible except for a couple of short & steep sections. This trail is located adjacent to a suburban park and campground. It’s very a popular sand beach with on duty lifeguards, change rooms, flush toilets and shaded picnic area so the parking lot can become very crowded on hot sunny weekends in the summer. The trail can also get very busy with mountain bikes and joggers but the park and trail are open and accessible year round. This trail also connects to a myriad of other trails such as the Morel Conservation Area and can connect to the Mt Benson Trail though it’s hard enough from the Witchcraft Lake parking area.

Fun, challenging trail with beautiful nature. The best view. Visiting from California, the nature is much greener and there are different kinds of critters and animals. only reason I give it 4 is because the way down would have been nicer if there were switchbacks or something other than straight down steep (maybe a rope). we had to scramble down what wasn't the best trail towards the end. Took us just over 5 hours, including some breaks.

I love this run, I’ve done it many times. It’s just under 9km when you stay on the trail going right around the island but you can make it longer if you like. It can be slightly busy and is a popular place. The trails are well groomed and only a small portion from the marina past the campgrounds is a gravel path, the rest is dirt. I would consider it easy to moderate for the average person.

We decided to take the trail less travelled today, and once we got to the half way point where Gordies trail crosses the old logging road we followed the road. We didn’t leave the road for Rafes Way either and followed until it became the “SAR 100 trail” and became an overgrown single track trail. It then reaches the rocky ridge and we followed the rocky ridge all the way to the summit. It was a nice change from the usual routes up to the summit and a very sub alpine feel to it. No cover from the sun and great views of the backside of Benson all the way up. We took the new trail to the parking lot for the first time on the way down as well.
