Nike, challenging day hike. Very foggy up top so will be doing this again on a clear day. Took our group just a bit under 5 hours to get from parking lot to summit with a few water and picture breaks. Puppy made it to emergency shelter with ease but I backpacked her up to the peak and down. Crossing snowfield was not necessary as we could easily go around what was left of it. Pretty easy up to Alder Flats and getting steeper after that. I drank almost 5 liters of water and it wasn’t that hot so bring lots of water.

Yes I recorded about 8.2 (round trip) miles from the parking lot .

A challenging hike but so rewarding. Beautiful old-growth forest and lots of pools for a refreshing dip. We had the lake to ourselves and there was no traffic on the trail.

Beautiful at the top with 360 degree views. Correctly categorized as hard. This hike is definitely longer than the description says, for what it’s worth, my Garmin watch says 14k from the parking lot.

The Creek and fall.

done this trail 1/2 dozen times. pays to be in shape. it's a slog of not. the elevation gain is pretty steady after Alder Flats. make it an overnight at the top because you simply cant beat the views. I've done it I as fast as 8 hours return and as a two night trip. would recommend this to anyone wanting a challenge. love this park!

actually quite impressed!

Steep trail. Great workout and amazing views at the top. Tons of bugs especially horse flies half way through the hike. The hike itself wasn’t too exciting. Trail was easy to follow. Same views of the forest until you get to the very top.

I love this trail, very good work out and the most amazing and rewarding view when you get to the top. Huge thank you to whoever marked this trail! I like to hike it 2-3 times a week I enjoy it so much!

Great workout, enjoyed the steep portions and was able to run down most of the trail coming back. Didn’t go up to the summit, need good part of a day to do that, hope to go all the way soon.

One day hike, very hard but the view is worth of the pain

18km round trip to/from parking lot to peak
23.7% grade for 80% of the hike
Close to 1000 m of elevation.
6.5 hours (4 up 2.5 down)

The trail itself is a little boring. Not as pretty as IE Spirit Caves. It is mostly debris on the forest floor, ferns and huckleberry. Near the top it got much nicer with alpine blueberries, wild azalea, heather, orchids, rock moss and some sedums. Some bugs along the trail, loud horse flies and lots of butterflies at the top.

The view from the top was stunning though and well worth the climbing. Lots of room to spread out. Shared the peak with only 4 other people.

Coming down was just as hard as going up. Very rooty, lots of lose ground cover, and coming down the ropes backward at the cliff made me uneasy.

Quite the grind but breath taking views for the last 2km to the top. Snow minimal and only after the hut. Can be avoided for the most part. Poles or crampons can assist but manageable without.

We have never been here before, but decided to make the trip up. 232 is closed so had to be creative to get there but it was well worth it. Great hike, we never saw another person the whole way till we were back near the bottom.

Awesome lookout at the top with a picnic table to eat lunch, which we did. Also lots of dragonflies so no mosquitoes up at the top. So we sat and enjoyed the view.

Well marked trails, easy to hike with some adventure, we did the whole blue ridge loops, we enjoyed the rougher trail area best.

Some mosquitoes but the mostly ate the female half of our group of 2.

We will be back to explore some more.

This was a lovely hike, without too terribly many people and with some decent elevation gain and neat features on the West Canyon side of the trail. The little offshoot we took to Hikers Beach was fun, where we found some sandy areas that you could easily camp on beside the creek. We hiked around the loop East to West but next time I think i’d just do an out and back along the West Canyon as it was more pleasurable for me with the interesting rock/ wooden steps and a bit more difficult terrain. Nice viewpoints on areas of the trail up into the mountains. Really great that there were many offshoots from the main loop for exploration. Will be back to try it in a different way again, perhaps to get up to Golden Ears peak next time with an overnighter! Took us (relatively fit 37 F/39 M) with a couple breaks, about 2.5 hours total.

it was really busy, but beautiful as well

Another great day here. So many little trails to shoot out and explore. This trail is super easy and fantastic for a power-walk workout.

If you come back on the West Canyon trail it is much better to make this a loop instead of out and back. Great views.

Easy hike without too many people. The trail to upper falls is easy to miss. The trail is also overgrown and a bit of an ankle challenge. But I found it to be very well marked with ribbons.

very nice trail. Confusing at times to figure out which trail to take, not marked well.

Amazing view from the top! I didn't summit as I didn't have the gear for climbing up all that snow, but it was an amazing view of Pitt Lake and the surrounding mountains (even Mt Baker in Washington) from the emergency shelter and campsite.

This hike kicked my ass. I would absolutely not recommend it if you're afraid of heights as there is quite a bit of scrambling to the top. Also, bringing a dog is a really terrible idea in my opinion, though I did see a couple people with them. It's a miracle the dog made it down in one piece.

It's an adventure getting to this spot. Past Halfmoon Beach its quite the slog through over growth and blow down. You'll need to know how to route find, track, and find markers through the bush. The tracks on this website aren't 100% correct either. It's not 29km and you won't be traveling in straight lines like the alltrails .gpx data shows. I'd say the actual distance is 36km and it took me 12 hours to do, there and back.

Check out my youtube channel, I made a video of the trip.

The viewpoint was a little confusing. There’s like two kinds but barely enough room for like 2 people to sit and have lunch

Way to many people and dog poop everywhere all over the trail, so bad it smells everywhere you go. this isn't a hike it's a walk. parking is slim to non! dont go on long weekends or weekends. weekdays late afternoon are the best times if your into nature walks around litter and poop.

Great hike, despite the rain, fog and no view at the top; definitely worth it!

did this trail in 2017 with my two teenage children was a tough go getting past all the blowdown 10 Km in but we made it don't I dont recommend the trail unless your experienced and have a GPS for back up as its very easy to loose your way trail is not well marked after you cross gold creek and ascend up to hector ferguson Lake some beautiful old growth when you get deep into the trail its a tough grind for the last 400 up to the lake but a great time if your a strong hiker.

Trails are pretty clearly marked which is good if you are a beginner. Took the blue trail so ensure you take the climb up to the viewpoint it is well worth it. All around great trip through the woods.

This was a nice and easy jaunt on trails that are mostly old logging roads/rail lines. Starting from the East Canyon Trailhead, take two quick lefts and the rest of the trail is relatively intuitive to follow.

Did this on Saturday. I'm not sure I could recommend the trail when it is wet, there was quiet a bit of mud. Near the end there is some climbing that needs to be done which I don't think is mentioned so be aware. It's quiet peaceful at the top however, I would recommend it during clear weather.
