Awesome hike. Easy walking on the old road up the switchbacks. Had lunch up at the top. Old mine is pretty cool.

Hiked May 31 2020 to the first peak. (lots of rain). We approached CCW, up from Swine Flu. Trail was easy to find. Steep climb, would recommend hiking poles. Some patches of snow at the first peak - but not on the trail.

Saw fresh cougar prints, urine, poo and scratches on trees. Go in groups. hard to find the trail initially but once you get higher, easy to follow.

Attempted May 19. Around 500 mt after we passed the bench, we started seeing some snow, and fallen trees. Nothing serious or dangerous, You can still manage to keep hiking up. After the first rocky view point we encountered more snow. We still manage to get through for another 1 km. After that we just saw more and more snow. We didn't even bother to keep trying. It looked doable, but demanding. If you have the time and are up to to challenge go for it! Bring gaiters and be prepared for a long day!

Nice easy trail. Still a bit of snow on trail and couple of trees down.

Easy trail , beautiful views and kid friendly

What a treat this was! Rode my bike from Fernie and snowshoed up to the old mine! No other tracks just me and nature! Such a beautiful view of the 3 sisters from up there! will have to come back in summer when more of the vestige are exposed!

It was beautiful! We weren’t sure where to park, but we walked over to the trail head. The bridge was a bit dangerous, I almost fell through twice and I’m a pretty good snow super. The trail ends or just dies out, so we plopped ourselves in the snow, had lunch and turned around.

Well maintained even in winter and well marked. Snow was a few feet deep off the trail but and nice easy hike from the Fernie visitor Center.

Good trail but easy to get mixed up with lots of others! But also easy to get back on track! Low snow amounts made this easy to enjoy end of December.

We started on one trail and ended that route and rerouted due to lack of time with a little 4 yr old. Beautiful hike tho!

Trail was great! More snow than anticipated and could have benefited with snowshoes but boots sufficed! Appreciated this winter trail as the view was great of the surrounding mountains - which I expect you wouldn’t get with normal summer foliage. When you begin you will come to a “fork in the road” Look for ribbons and head right at this point! After that the trail is clearly marked and impossible to lose.

Beautiful old growth trees with some lovely views enroute to Island Lake Lodge. We take many visitors here for a sweet hike up, some lunch and a beer, then hike back down to the car. Nice cool forest on a hot day. Good for most ages with some steepish bits.

Good crisp day for a walk. Hike is fairly easy up the old road / track with switchbacks near the top getting a bit steeper. Some views enroute and with the most interesting bits at the top where the old mine shafts and crumbling buildings are. If you have a couple hours and want to stick close to town this is a nice little hike.

Easy-Moderate hike when not too much snow, total time of 2-3 hours for the round trip. The trails are beautiful, great views of the colorful valley and peaks as you move higher elevation. We really enjoyed our time on the trail end, interesting old abandoned mine buildings. (total of 3) The trail was pretty lonely (our cars were the only ones in the trailhead) as it's not close to town, but we run into a few other hikers on our way down. No wildlife encounter. Highly recommended !

Easy, beautiful and fun hike. The trail is well prepared, even on humidity/rain conditions it is worth the walk. Shared with bike riders, it end up in amazing waterfalls view. Good for family and all levels too. Highly recommended

Nice walk until the mine. The only thing is the path needs some signals to remind if you are in the right on the route. Also, the hike is almost empty of people so I suggest you to go with at least 3 people. We were a group of 8 walking. Take a look of the mine because is the best part of the hike. No wildlife
