A fair bit of elevation gain but worth the hike.

While I personally probably wouldn’t rate this hike as ‘easy’, it sure was beautiful. The trail was steep, but very well maintained, and the view at the top makes the climb worth it.

Definitely a lot of vertical hiking. well populated with locals , beautiful view. Make sure your shoes are tied up tight .

Great climb.... not necessarily “easy” ... Amazing view of Nelson! Busy hike!

Excellent trail. A few people on it, lots of mosquitoes - bring spray/essential oils.

Awesome hike! Steady climb. Great trail

was able to 4x4 up to about 1km from the parkinglot, then stopped for snow & road erosion. Hiked about 1km up the trail(?) then just explored around the boulder field & trekked out. must go back in warmer season!

A great hike! beaitiful views along the way and stellar views up top! Lots of people and dogs. Nice clean Trail. Up up up!

Attempted today but couldn't quite make it to drinnion lake. Lots of snow on the road, trail is under 2-6ft of snow. Will try again in a few weeks!

Absolute hidden gem - breathtaking throughout and rewarded with a fantastic lake. More trails from the campsite at the lakes leading higher up. Went last August and saw the park rangers working on some new outhouses! Highly highly recommended.

This trail is an absolute must if you are in Nelson for more than one day. The first time up always kicks your ass but the views are worth it and everyone is super friendly. It will likely become a tradition for future trips to Nelson.

Highly recommend this hike for a killer view looking across Kootenay Lake towards Nelson, especially during September and October when the trees are changing colour. If you have the extra time, then continue further to the flag pole!

beautiful and moderate hike with few amazing look outs and fairy tale lakes.

Beautiful trail. Great for people who don't mind a steady climb. Lots of little critters and beautiful flowers on the way to the final destination. Lake was freezing but worth a quick dip. Will do again!

great trail but still snow on top, great old growth cedar trail syop on way back

Did this hike in the evening to go up and watch the fireworks in Canada day. Hiked down in the dark. Overall it was somewhat difficult but amazing views

I am out of shape, so this trail was quite challenging. probably a mile of hiking up, up, up. The view at the top was worth it though. This trail would probably take most people about an hour to hike up and half an hour to get down. I took about 1.5 hours hiking up and half an hour to get down.

Great family camping spot. Clean, quiet, scenic. Not worth bringing your bikes to as there is only biking around the camp loops. Instead, plan for water fun such as a canoe, kayak, or dingy to enjoy on the lakes. Clean, clear water for swimming at two beaches on the 3rd lake.

Easy family friendly loops around the lakes.

This is a delightful, mostly flat, multiple loop trail that circles the three Champion Lakes. There is also a great swim beach. The best map of the trail is on a board at the swim beach, go there first to get your directions. Lots of mosquitoes in June, July, bring repellent. This is a whole family, well maintained trail. There is also a short, steep trail up to a lookout spot, probably not really worthwhile except to get aerobic. Bring your swimsuit for a nice swim after hiking around. The road is paved all the way to the lakes.

I have always meant to come back here because it was one of my favorite hikes I've done. The access is from Slocan. Subalpine wonders and and fishing on Drinnon lake. In the area? Go!

on Gwillim Lakes

Beautiful area. One of my favorite places on the planet. The scramble to the top of Lucifer Peak is a must. For the most part, the scramble is pretty easy...its the last 100meters that got a little sketchy for us.
