Please note trailhead marked on this map is the beginning of a forest road leading to the parking area. Continue down the road for approximately 1 mile / 1.6 km to find the parking area. The initial 500+ ft / 152+ meter ascent will be done while driving to the parking area. This is a moderate trail through mossy old growth forest (except for the crossing of a recent cut block lower down) along the south wall of the Kuskanax River canyon between Nakusp and the Nakusp Hot Springs. Near the Hot Springs the trail crosses a covered wooden bridge with benches and views over the rushing river. Enjoy a Hot Spring at the beginning or end of your hike. It may be completed as an out and back walk, or one way with two vehicles or hitch hiking. Other bathers are usually happy to give a lift back into the village if you start at the bottom. Show more

Note: As of September 8, 2020, due to a toad migration, this trail is currently CLOSED for horses and bikes to use, but currently open for all foot traffic. This is a nice flat trail along a lake. Not challenging and good for all levels. A canopy shades the trail but it opens up occasionally to see the peaks nearby. Show more
