Easy trail with gentle inclines and declines around a beautiful lake. Good for a relaxing stroll anytime of the day or an energetic run.

did this loop twice on a trail run today. as others are saying the power/pipe line part of the trail is boring and relitavley easy but ascending Nicole's trail gets the heart going and descending Mel's trail makes for some fun technical downhill

This is a really great loop trail, about half way there is a softball diamond with a fresh water tap beside the pool. Really great on a hot day my dogs loved it. Further along the trail, there is fresh water in the stream. We will definitely be back!

nothing special but still it has decent looks

It was easy and a little bit hard stairs.
I loved the big trees and lovley ravine beautiful!

Pretty nature walk. Clean clear paths! Kinda cool to see the painted turtles too!

Pretty easy trail I did several weeks ago. But beautiful lake!

Took my dog for a little stroll, she loved it! We started by walking down the stairs instead of the other way and walking up this time, it was a nice refresher.

Quick hike with my boyfriend, always beautiful. Much hotter during mid-day so I prefer the mornings.

It’s amazing

Really cute and nice short day hike. There were lots of off paths that led to little chill spots with the creek running below. The highlighted trail on the map follows a wider path so I chose to take the inside trail which was thinner and a lot more natural. Some spots were very quiet and serene, it was almost as if there was no city around me. If I didn’t have this app I don’t think I would have been able to do the whole loop as there are no signs and it’s quite easy to get turned around. I had to turn around near the beginning of the hike because the trail I was following suddenly ended, it was still a very beautiful detour. I will definitely be coming back to do this.

The forest trails are fun but the power and pipeline parts of the trail are woefully uninteresting. There are many small trails branching off as well.

Easy walk with multiple options for different loops and customized distance. Areas in the sun and shade. Parking is a bit limited. A bit busy with people on a sunny Sunday afternoon and some spots you can hear traffic noise.

Nice for easy hiking with children

Map is now incorrect as it looks like a section of trail has been washed out and now closed off near the Headly St corner/playground ... just walk through the playground and pick up the trail on the other side instead of going down behind the tennis courts and trying to get into that bit.

It's great to see a hidden gem inside a city. Didn't see any signs leading into the trail from the parking lot.

Great for stroller walks as well

We started at bottom of Nicole’s - so the tough part was at beginning rather than end. Where the trail starts on the map there isn’t any parking so better plan ahead

Beautiful view, the trails are boardwalks. Good for a short walk. I would not suggest this trail if you have large dogs

A fantastic, level riparian trail in the middle of a big city. Thanks Burnaby for your incredible foresight in saving this natural gem for everyone to enjoy. Perfect for bird lovers.

A gem of a trail! Once you start walking around the lake, you quickly forget this park is in the big city. There are so many trail points you can start at, all with free parking. From boardwalks, to gravel, and dirt paths.. this trail is always changing. All year round is astonishingly beautiful. The boardwalks do get a bit slippery in the winter though. This is a bird watchers paradise, and a duck haven. You'll find most of the water fowl at the beach looking for feed from visitors. Remember, bread is bad for birds/ducks/geese, bring wild bird seed! You'll see a heron here and there, but during mating season, you'll find over sixty nests in the tall trees at the west end of the park, visible from Deer Lake Parkway. It's quite something to see. And if you love turtles, there is one particular fallen tree at the edge of the lake where you'll find up to fifteen of them bathing on hot days. One winter I even saw a bobcat! Leaving the wilderness behind, there is so much to do in this park. There are hourly boat rentals at a reasonable price near the beach which makes for a fun day and gives you a completely different perspective of the lake. As well, the Shadbolt Center offers many art classes and workshops, and has a fabulous little theatre. The park also puts on concerts and festivals, some even free! If you're feeling peckish, the Express Cafe has a great choice of food and snacks. This is a park you'll find yourself returning to time and time again.

A nice walk around the lake. Unfortunately they were filming a tv show when I was there so a lot of trail was blocked off. A lot of it is also uncovered through more of a field.

Also worth checking out the free art gallery while you're there.

Awesome workout! Definitely need hiking shoes for the trail within the forest. The pipeline trail part of the trail map posted is quite boring but I think you can avoid that part as there are several alternative trails within the forest. Will definitely do again for the workout alone. Good for a sunny day as it is heavily shaded with forest. Not busy at all on a weekday late afternoon.

This was a nice walk on a hot day. Most of the walk is along the water so there is usually a nice breeze.
