Great trail. Definitely start by going left, taking the skid trail, because the markings that way are much better. Beautiful views at the top with a wooden platform perfect for a picnic. 3 of us went there second week of November and it took us around 4h (including a 20 min break at the top).

Nice little hike.

I want to write down the way to enjoy this trail the most because one of the reviews here stated the direction incorrectly and we met people cursing because they followed the reviewers suggestion. If you have a car park it by the yellow gate and continue on the logging road. When you come to the fork - pick Skid trail (don’t go on logging road) and the trail will be nicely marked - it’s clockwise direction of the loop. The next 5.6 km is steady uphill - sometimes more steep sometimes less but clearly marked trail. You will get some views along the way and you can choose to go to South Summit but South summit has no views. We followed to North summit (has a dog. south summit no view - north summit - view) and it’s simply breathtaking - there are 2 platforms - one facing towards Vancouver and one towards Sunshine Coast. It took us 2 h 53 min to walk up that way and we did 5.77 km - keep in mind I am a severe asthmatic and take breaks often. Poles and good hiking shoes are a must for this trail. We went down thru the very steep descent also clearly marked and it had 3 ropes to help you descend. I can imagine this part being a problem after the rain. It’s short (about 100 m) but very steep. You than go down and eventually hit another view of Sunshine Coast and than arrive at the fork - we went right and took hikers trail unlike the recorded path provided on the map and it’s a logging road and it’s a steep down road. It’s not bad to go down but rocks slip and poles were useful. We later went thru shortcut back to Skid and returned the same way we started because we decided we liked the softer ground compared to rocks. From the platforms down was 4.75 km and took 1h 38 min - keep in mind we cut to hikers trail so it’s shorter than red line on this map. So overall we had over 10k and it took over 4.5 hours.

Pretty nice loop around the lake. Was a gorgeous sunny day and we saw quite a few different birds.

Great trail, sparsely marked and views at the top were spectacular. Most of trail is easy to moderate except some parts closer to the top. Definitely hard and a bit of a scramble but manageable, fun and worth it.

Nice views from the top but the trail is hard to follow in places. The signage is not great.

This was a solid hike with variation in terrain. Got to enjoy the spooky woods with mist. The final scramble is a fun challenge. Didn't catch a view at the top because of fog, so I'd recommend going on a clear day!

fun but not well marked park of route not working

In great shape for the most part, slipping and sliding on the Hikers Trail coming down was the only real hazard. Went to the ground a couple of times on that road way

did this trail on a tuesday afternoon and saw nobody else during my three hour hike. the loop has now been marked from both directions with the same orange squares attached to trees. this app also helped a lot to stay on the right path, since there are several crossings without markings. managed to go in the wrong direction two times, but realized that fast because the orange squares were missing.

nice and easy walk. good view point. deers in the way

Wonderful hike. First third is a real burner. Go left, anti-clockwise on Skid trail, and come back down the logging road on the way back. Much better that way, and really well marked if you go that way too. Going up the logging road is a bad idea, and it is poorly marked that way. Overall a great hike. Did the full loop in a little over 3.5 hours, with a half hour stop up the top, making it 4 hours in total.

Hard but rewarding! Easy to get lost so I highly recommend you GPS. It took us about 5 hours including a lot of stops for pictures and lunch on the North Summit.

Canada Day 2018 with Wifey. Gorgeous day

Hard trail, amazing view. They renewed the trail marks, but the beginning of the trail after leave the road that goes until middle of the mountain isn't very well signed. It's also import keep attention going down the mountain, there are marks, but easy to get distracted and leave the trail.

This is a hard and rewarding trail, with stunning 360 degrees views at the peak. Worth your time It is an amazing workout. It is not a 6mile, more like an 8 - 8.5. Took me 5 hours. very well marked but only from a point. Trail markers are small (3/4 of an inch) orange squares, tacked and nails to trees. GPS sure helps, but, the trail is well marked. Took the Handloggers trail to the peak and it’s an amazing climb, at times a very steep ascent, demanding and gets the heart beating wildly, even for an experienced hiker.

great trail! markers are helpful but GPS needed. views worth it at top!

Very challenging to find correct route. Wouldn’t have been able to find the summit without this app. Many people asked us for directions. Nice views at North Summit.

We did this trail starting from the ferry in about 7 hours (though we did spend about an hour at the north summit view). We did this hike on Monday and we only met one person throughout the afternoon. As said in other reviews, it is easy to lose the trail, but nothing too bad. We had to turn around and look for the signs twice during the trip. Also, know there is no view from the south summit, but the North summit has a beautiful overlook of Vancouver. So far this is my favorite hike that is public transit accessible!

Hiked from the ferry and back. Good long hike, great view of Vancouver Metro. Easy to loose trail in some points but retracing steps to last tree marker worked easily. Not ideal for landscape photography (Great backdrop but very little mid ground). Would recommend some sort of GPS for sure. Took around 6 hours from leaving ferry to getting back to ferry.
