I did the Abby grind in 53 minutes and 41 seconds today

Good cardio work out for sure. Proper footwear a must and wear bug spray (black flies) if you plan to stop and rest. Nice view at the top!

My favourite local hike! Not too hard, good views if you go beyond the lake up to the top!

July 15, 2018- There is a steep incline from the beginning and it never ends lol. Wear proper footwear and bring poles if you have them. We ended up using big sticks on the way down because it’s hella hard to not slip due to the sheer steepness. It’s a great workout, covered by trees most of the way, so you shouldn’t burn. We did get bitten by mosquitoes so I’d recommend applying bug spray.

Very nice view at the top and a small clearing to sit for a bit. I’m in decent shape and found this to be a great workout for my legs lol. Didn’t run into any bears. I would NOT recommend this hike when it’s been raining because there’s a high chance you will slip and fall. Prepare to get really dusty as dirt gets kicked up with almost every step. Our little dog was white when we left and brown when we returned LOL. Oh, and bring water!!

Great hike, just over 9km from the lower parking lot. Took just over 2 hours round trip. Path is starting to get overgrowth in some areas.

Great trail, great hike. Awesome for a good cardio if you’re into that or take it as a slow-pace nature hike with the kids. Could build some steps on some of the muddy spots but that’s part of the challenge. At par if not better than the over-hype grouse grind.

Close to home - quick up and down. If it’s been raining it’s always super muddy.

Good morning walk

Good grind for a short duration close to home!

Easy. Do this once a week

This would be a great hike or multipke peak hike on a nice sunny day when the ground has been dry. When its been wet out or is raining, it is a complete mud slide. Make sure to bring poles, wear footwear with good grip and use the sides as much a possible if you hike on a wet day or encounter mud. It is very slick.

Good trail, bit of overgrowth, beautiful view for a nice reward when reaching the lake.

Good trail, bit of over growth. Would suggest bug spray if you plan on stopping when moving they don’t seem to bother you. Clean trail no garbage found when hiking *thumbs up*

A great challenge. Getting to the lake was the easy part, talk about some step sections. Would almost like to say it was worth it but the view point is obstructed with plenty of tree. The way down was not as easy as I thought.

Now sitting at home... man my feet are sore!

Beautiful forest and up at the lake was so quiet and peaceful. We are in moderate shape and it took us 4.5 hours total but we did take our time stopping to admire things and had a snack by the lake. It was a difficult enough hike that we worked up a sweat but not too difficult that we were out of breath and exhausted. Will definitely do it again!

was up there last week and drove to the upper parking lot so it only took a 30-40 minute hike/walk to the lake! made it up in a small corolla but a suv or 4x4 would be more comfortable however not necessary at the moment! no bugs besides some flies at the lake attracted to our food. took a swim and enjoyed the quietness:) followed along the trail on Google maps to make sure we were going the right way but it was marked well enough to not use maps!

The old trail is overgrown and poorly marked, but still a good hike. The scenery is awesome.

Steep in spots incredible view of the valley at the top

Good one for a challenge, going downhill is hard on knees as usual for oldies.

This hike is just alright. The viewpoint is not that nice, and I find the trail in general to not be very attractive.

It is close to where I live however, and it does make for a good workout because of how steep it is.

Super handy trail if you live nearby. Short enough blast of a workout. Trail forested and covered mostly. Lookout can be sunny. Can definitely get very busy on weekends but still no where near as busy as a Vancouver trail. Most spots are easy enough to allow others to pass, only a few narrow areas.

Decent enough hike but nothing special. The lake is pretty small and the views are minimal but overall its a nice way to spend a day. I was surprised at the traffic of other hikers for mid November. I've done this hike a few times over the years so finding the way isn't a problem but I can appreciate the previous comments that the trail isn't marked well in places. There are a couple of forks that could take you off course in the fist couple of km, especially is it is foggy. After you hit the road (around 3km) there are plenty of markers from the 1967 trail commemoration that make it impossible to lose your way. You climb through a blend of coniferous and desiduous forest on the way up. The leaves on the ground made it difficult to see what I was walking on in places but given he season that was expected. There is ice forming on some the rock outcrops near the top which are nice to look at. I was really disappointed that someone has decided to clear cut log right up to the trail near the 3km point. Shame that they couldn't have at least left a buffer. There is also taping that has been done in other sections indicating there may be more to come.

Loved the hike. Trarrian is rough so wear proper foot wear. Trails are not clearly marked so very easy to get lost so I suggest flagging tape to mark your route. We never did find the lake because of trails not being marked and very over grown.

I would call it more heavily trafficked, by humans and bears, but still an awesome short hike. A bit of a grind and can get muddy at times during the winter, super valley views though and the people are always nice.

Steady climb, nothing to steep. Just didn't "wow" me.
