beautiful hike but not for the faint of heart. did this yesterday with my spouse for the first time, was mostly uphill with a short level area. we took overnight packs and did a one night trip. the lake was beautiful and full of fish who where jumping for bugs all evening, was really kicking ourselves for not bringing fishing gear. will definately do this hike again but intend to plan out our packs a little better. took us 4 hours up and 3 down as we are newbies and not yet the fastest.

Very nice hike with a several views. Took five hours start to end with a group of kids 10-13 years ,a dog and a couple of older people. The description is pretty accurate. Moderate but not too difficult. Great introduction to hiking for the kids. Had a little bit of everything.

Nice stroll in the woods. There’re muddy sections. Wear good shoes if you want to get down to the waterfall.

awesome trail, well kept maybe 2 down trees. views at the top were superb, and 360 degrees. make sure you go early to beat the crowds. great spot for lunch. we had hail and rain. worth a second trip as a fyi, trail for us was quite muddy, so be careful going down, knees still sore from the sliding

Made it almost to the falls and there was a huge black bear on the trail. Had to turn back before it saw us.

It had one flooded section of path that required some fancy foot work across tree bridges. The one major hill on this hike is tough for someone just starting out hiking without great physical fitness.

Did this hike with my four kids (5,7,9,11) and our dog today. The trail is great and easy to follow. This hike has a little bit of everything, and is very enjoyable. The climbs are steep and fairly long but roots and rocks provide good footing and there are a few sections where it levels out for a while providing a rest for the legs. Took us 2:45 on the way up and 1:45 on the way down.

we crossed the creek after the hoodoos and followed a very clear trail however this is not the way to the caves! nonetheless it was a great hike that got quite steep and we made our way to a rocky area where we stopped for tea and lunch. We left our packs and explored the rock face a bit! Amazing views! we will return another day to head for the caves...stay in the creek bed!

This is one of my favourite hikes! The trail is well marked and steep in spots. When you get to the lake it’s got a deep Marl colour to it with a cliff face on the side of it which makes for excellent pictures! I do this hike twice a season and highly recommend it for hikers of all fitness levels!

Very, very awesome hike. We made a loop out of it by cutting over to kinglet lake trail which was not hard to do as the segment between trails is wide open plain. descending with clear view of the lake was dreamy and there are lots of fire pits nears the lake, if you bring stuff to spend the night

Great scramble with beautiful views. More of a scramble than a hike. There is basically no trail up, so you can follow your own route and make it as difficult as you’d like. Not a beginners scramble. Very exposed, lots of rocks.

Trail was a bit muddy in places but nothing major. Wanted to go past campsite upstream of the falls but river was too high to ford due to recent rain. On the way back from falls to canyon viewpoint, took a less traveled trail further from canyon closer to road, lots of blown down trees to crawl over or under.

Trail running. Only made it to where the trail splits to Kinglet Lake on the left and Tuff Puff on the right (rain storm was coming). Beautiful views, the trail is fairly “open” and you climb through meadows. Not overly technical in that first portion, one steep climb (that you can see from the highway) therefore would recommend that beginners have good shoes with grip. We brought our dog on leash.

This trail has amazing views for very little effort. I would rate it more as easy not moderate. It would be a good early season hike as it is down in a valley. Also better done on a cool day or early in the morning as it’s fairly open with not much shade. The dogs had a blast too.

June 21/22 very beautiful hike! lots of elevation gain. Had hoped to camp at the lake but due to snow/bad conditons lost the trail and decided to go back and camp on a ridge. Certain parts of the trail were very slippery and muddy. Second day we saw a lot of other hikers + weather was better so following the path/lake was probably more attainable. Would definitely recommend and will be back.

Easy trail, large parking lot with washrooms. Its a more popular hike so expect to share the trail, easy enough for families with kids. Falls are nice, great hike for beginners, families or someone wanting a nice scenic afternoon walk. Long enough hike to make sure you have water and a snack along, especially if you have kids. If anyone wants to do a test run with kids mine are available to rent the 6 year old is a trooper and will rock it out, the 11 year old is a touch whiny and will eat everyones snacks.

It is a great hike with some rewarding views. Looking for the trail turns a bit into a Wheres Waldo in some parts so be prepared to scramble up where you can. The name is accurate you’ll have the wind blowing in your hair but as you climb there are lots of spots where your protected from it. Overall super hike with enough scrambling and sliding to be lots of fun.

Quick walk or drive down a rather steep and bumpy road and you are right at the look out to see the falls. Attached to a nice provincial campground. Evening time the mosquitos were out to plan accordingly and bring spray with you!

Moderate Kootenay Plains (Clearwater County) Difficulty = ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Distance = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Elevation = ⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 Scenery = ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/ 5 First 1.5km was very straight and easy (no shade) Couple of minor inclines with 1 or 2 larger inclines We went to the second waterfall which was about 7km in. You could just go to the first waterfall which is roughly 3.5km in.

Hiked this today with my kids (11,9,7,5) and our dog. Definitely a leg burner right from the start but the views are incredible. We made it to the false summit and then the youngest was getting a bit scared so we went back and enjoyed spectacular view of Abraham lake and surrounding mountains the entire way down. The decent is a little tricky due to loose rock and the steepness. Great hike all in all.
