No good views today due to the smoke in the air. We tried the loop, but the trail was to steep, very small and too dificult for us. We turned arround after a half hour and took the normal trail back. Maybe it is better to do the loop counter clock wise.

lots of switchbacks in a buggy forest that suddenly clears atop. not a bad view but was hazy from forest fires

A great hike. Lots of amazing views that will take your breath away. The facilities at the start/end are excellent. Highly recommended.

Very very difficult and blends with fiddle river trail as well. Easy to get lost. As well as, the wind was so strong it made it difficult to make any progress at times.

This is just a quick walk, wouldn’t consider it a hike. However, if you’re at Miette Hotsprings, definitely take the time to go check it out!

Very Difficult, unmarked, overgrown trail. Do not attempt unless you are experienced and have appropriate gear.

Started out at Miette Hotsprings, and followed fiddle river up, eventually had to cross the river using the narrow bridge. Just after the bridge you cross Sulphur Creek. Continuing up the trail.. this is where it gets difficult and easy to get lost. If you reach the waterfall - stop. And turn back!! You have gone too far and will get seriously lost if you continue onwards. Back track past 2 rock slides from the waterfall, and climb up the second rockslide. This will bring you to the utopia campground. This was as far as we intended to go, however, like I said, be careful and use your compass and map.

That being said, despite the difficulties of this trail, it was incredibly beautiful, scenic, and breathtaking. If you do want to venture past the waterfall just to look into the valley, I highly recommend, as long as you can backtrack to the trail. The valley just above the waterfall has panoramic views of the mountains.

Gorgeous views. Well worth the climb.

Stunning views at the top once you put the effort in to reach it. Totally Worth it. You should start early as it gets busy in the day

A couple of friends and I did this trial last summer!! Highly recommend!

did this trail a few years ago and want to go back again. beautiful scenery

This is a great in and out trail. Not too busy. But it is not in Whitehorse Creek Wildland Park. It is totally in Jasper National Park. You can go over into Whitehorse but not recommended. That part of the trail has been destroyed by recreational horse traffic.

Please do research before scrambling. This scramble is rated difficult for a reason. The crux can be bypassed with loss of elevation and then scree bashing up the gulley but for the final summit push from the wooden tripod on the false summit there is no bypass and has some exposure. My favorite scramble so far in the jasper area. Took our group of 4, 11 hours. Again, do your research as the approach up sulfur creek seems to prove difficult for some to find when it branches off to the left. Sulfur creek can run high at certain times of the year as well. Suggested to bring a helmet as well. Amazing views but you have to work for them and there is exposure.

Poorly marked.

Unbelievably difficult. The day we went the wind was literally blowing you off the mountain. Experienced hikers only. Lots of scrambling and very difficult to find the right trail.

Awesome hike! Such great panoramic views!

Fun route with some good scrambling spots along the way. Was nice and clear and calm (aside from the smoky haze from the BC wildfires) so the views were excellent. Decended the large scree slope rather than down climbing some of the scrambles. met up with the river/Creek on the way back down and met up with the trail at the log bridge. Definitely recommend this route.

This is one of the premier trails in Jasper National Park. There are few places where you can get above the treeline so easily. The view from the top is spectacular. Most people do this as an out and back to the summit, but it is possible to do as a loop as shown here. Be aware that it does require a bit of route finding near the top on the way down to avoid cliffing out.
