Went in the winter, and it was a very flat, and relatively unspectacular view from the end of the trail. It was still fun and nice, but I’d need to go in the summer to give it a fair rating I think.

This is an easy hike and has beautiful Scenery, but disappointing. The trail just end and seem very Anticlimactic. At the end you can hear a waterfall that is just out of view, unless you are adventuresome and crawl up the creek on logs and rocks. I do love the views of Heart Mountain and the beauty in the canyon. Have done this hike twice once in the spring and now in the fall. The trail was snow covered and becoming icy.

Love ❤️ Mountain! Challenging up but the views make it worth every step. There was a marker (red square on a cliff) that could be easily missed and then you could end up going the wrong way and getting cliffed out.
Really enjoyed the “multiple summits” ;)
The trail is a loop that offers great views the entire time.

did it last weekend of Sept. totally covered in snow and a bit slippery whem scramble starts. highly would recommend spikes.

Amazing views. Not an easy one. Carry a lot water as it can take a few hours to do the entire loop

fun for the whole family! easy and pretty!

Did this hike Sept 23. Very steep, but once you get used to going straight uphill it's easier to keep your breath. Scrambling up the rocks was super fun.

My friend and I got stuck just before the summit, as she did not feel confident enough once it became extremely steep. I read that you should stick to the right of the main trail to avoid hitting basically a vertical rock wall, but even going to the right it still appeared way too steep to make it to the top, so we sadly turned around.

At the bottom we met some fellow hikers and I asked them if they made it to the top. They did confirm you should stick to the right of the trail, they also said it took them two tries to actually summit it, so I'll just have to try again sometime!

Nice short easy walk. It was the first mountain walk I’ve taken my dog on and the first mountain walk I’ve done solo. Not a super busy path, although there were others around which was comforting but I also did it end of September. Great for a easy walk close to the city!

This a great hike for families. My kids (ages 6 and 10) handled it beautifully. The bridges are fun to cross and they enjoyed jumping from rock to rock in places. You may see climbers so look up!

I loved this scramble. We did the loop - up Heart Mountain first, across the ridge then up Grant McEwan, and down. I’d definitely recommend doing it in that order! Glad I left the dog behind, I think the terrain would have been a little too difficult. Almost no “traditional” scree to scramble over - mostly big slabs requiring some scrambling up, and some scree parts but they were pretty packed down so I wasn’t sliding around too much.

Really great hike with nice views. Definitely a challenge for beginner to intermediate. Little bit of decent scrambling and some bum scooting on the decent if you start the loop clockwise.

Easy trail. Took us 2 hours but we stopped at the end for half an hour and had some long photo stops plus watched the rock climbers. We took our shoes off and walked through the icy water to view the waterfall but it was so cold our feet hurt and it was not worth it. Better to climb up and look down at the waterfall.

great for kids, is pretty flat and easy trail along a creek, a bunch of bridges for tge kids to get excited!
in a nice day you'll see lots of climbers too!

Great hike, not for beginners.

Only a 40-50 min drive from Calgary city center. Lots of rock climbing and scrambling. There is no set path, navigating through it made it more fun. The ascend was great, lots of loose slate rocks. A bit slippery on the way down, watch your footing. Huge cliffs with amazing features, great views at the top! Well worth the climb.

Aug 25, 2018 - Good workout

Hard but rewarding views

Beautiful and challenging!
We took the Scramble up and also did the loop over Grant McEwan peak.
Bring lots of water and be prepared for a steep hike up a decent hike around then a scramble down!

Did this hike on Sun Aug 19 and really enjoyed it. 2 hrs up the west side then followed the traverse as shown on this map. 1hr 20mins for the traverse to the high point, then 2hrs down. It was a very enjoyable hike despite the smoke. As most scrambling sites/books indicate, do this counter clockwise. As well, there is parking just off the highway, east of the access for lac des arcs and heart creek which will save you a little bit of time.

This was s good hike for our family. We hiked with our two boys (10&8) and our pup. Lots of families and people going through the trails. Pet friendly

I wouldn’t classify this route as hard more of a moderate. 2nd favourite in the Canmore area

Short and sweet, small waterfall, walk beside and around the creek the whole time, pretty easy/beautiful. Wasn’t sure about it at first but def worth it. If you want to do the steep climb to the top, just be aware it’s a little difficult coming back down as it’s pretty steep. When you get up, take a right and follow the little trail for a nice mountain view and a spot to eat lunch :D there’s an arrow marked where you go back down again so you won’t get lost.

Went in winter got stuck in a blizzard but really easy to navigate. Super fun (and easy) for both humans and dogs!
Also managed to snap some amazing pictures!

What a beautiful trail. I went with 4 boys and it was easy and interesting. I loved the walk! It was around 5pm walking in, so there was hardly any people. I was disappointed that I couldn’t see the falls at the end- you had to boulder up (no thanks) but the boys did it -which gave me multiple heart attacks. I couldn’t walk through the river to see it, the water was COLD and the logs were not stable enough for me to walk over. But I would do the trail again, it was so lovely!

Great small hike. Trail is in good shape.

Fun scramble, but I wouldn’t say the view was overly spectacular.

Easy trail... but beautiful views

Route finding is the hardest thing about this hike, since its not an official trial. While there are a few scrambling sections, the rocks are really easy to grab onto and climb up, almost like bouldering rocks. Very unique and no exposure if you stick to the trail.
It took us an hour and a half ascent and almost the same for going down. Did it after work (starting at 5:30 ish).
You could definitely continue on to Loder Peak from here but we were turned around by thunderstorms. Either way, you will get great views of Yamnuksa, as well as the Bow Valley mountain ranges behind.
Definitely recommend as a more adventurous, but very manageable, hike!

A fun day with my hubby! Some hands down parts! Horseshoe loop had great variety of terrain! The registry needs a new book if anyone going up.

This hike made it onto our "to do" list for the 2018 peak hiking season. First attempt at completing this trek (3 weeks ago) did not go well. We missed the red marker at the crux and ended up on a well used trail that took us far up into the steep debris field on the west side of heart mountain. We ended up running out of time and had to make the decent back down the west leg of the loop.

Our second effort was a success but this hike was certainly not as advertised or described in our guide book. The trail marking after the crux is non existent, well....we couldn't locate any markings. we ended up having to tackle two very difficult and nerve wracking scrambles to make to the summit of heart. The rest of the hike over the 6 peaks had us losing the trail at least three more times.

The views at the top are spectacular but the price paid to get these views was way too high.

Needless to say, Heart Mountain Circuit now has a check mark beside it on our list. This one definitely won't be making it onto our "do again" list.

great little hike!
