Beautiful hike! Small incline throughout the whole trail with a few small steep sections. Beautiful waterfalls along the trail - some of the hiking sections were a little narrow beside the creek but should be no problem if you take your time. Easy trail to follow with signs along the way!

Great for families! Make sure to have an extra layer to wear at lake. Check out the Elephant Rocks!

Wonderful hike. The first half was a bit of tough uphill slugging but the reward of the open meadows and the lake were worth it. Also worth the five minute hike up to the elephant rocks.

Great hike. Small incline the whole way up. One part was pretty narrow right beside the river you come too but wasn’t hard. Little bit of snow on the ground. Took us 4 hours as we were stopping lots with a pupper as he was excited the whole hike.

Lake is beautiful great spot for a lunch.

Beautiful lake at the end, family friendly, if you are going on rainy days make sure you have bug spray and mosquito spray..!! At the end we saw Grizzly bear and Bear cub at other side of the lake.

Nice trail and joyful for the beginners. We couldn't reach the lake by following the "Trail" sign, for still snow covering at last 1.5 km. But got over there following the yellow diamond ski sign, took by the cross country skiing route.
Gorgeous wildflowers made the day beautiful.

Went up to Black Prince Lakes (a ways past Warspite lake and cascade) last year in August. It was a great, varied trail. The first part, to the Warspite lake, is very gentle, no issues and in forest. Past that it is steep and farther than you think to get to the lakes, since you must go up past the cascade, into a bowl, and up another ridge (to your right hand side coming into the bowl) to see the lakes.
The trek was worth it though, as the water was cool and reflective. Earlier in the season I'm sure you could even jump in!

Amazing snowshoe trail! Spectacular views, forested and wide open spaces. Initially there is a bit of a incline to get through but it’s worth it!

Went up on a day off. Nice trail, very minimal elevation gain, very gentle. I probably could have done out and back in 3 hours (plus a little extra time for food and photos), though my team were a bit slower, so it took us around 5 RT. The view of Mt. Galatea at the end is STUNNING. Not a ton of wildlife, though we did see a few grouse and some toads.

Still lots of snow for the last few kms. Not worth bringing spikes, but I would suggest poles for stability, and wool socks.

Still deep snow the last km, we turned around rather than push through to the lake as you often punch through and sink up to your knees. However the view of the Spray Lakes and valley at the viewpoint made this an enjoyable day.

There is snow on this trail ! Made hiking it more difficult. Will definitely try it again in the summer.

Was closed as of 8 May 2018.

We’ve done this trail in the fall (in light snow) and in the summer. It’s a pretty easy trail, the road walking up is the hardest part so just take your time. I have seen coyote & moose on the trail so be aware if travelling with kids or dogs.

Still quite a bit of snow today beyond where the trail splits...wish I didn’t leave my gaiters behind! I would definitely recommend if you’re heading up in the new few weeks. Snow pack is firm and walkable in places but some steps fall right through thigh-waist deep! Makes for a more tedious walk but still nice!

Still lots of soft, deep snow on the trail which made hiking more difficult than expected. The lake isn't thawed yet, either. The views were great, though! Will have to try again in a few months!

Very nice trail. The only problem that the last part of the road to the trail was unpaved. However, it was an easy one and once you reach the lake, you can enjoy the view. We went on the fall so we could not enjoy the flowers so that I hope I can go again in the summer

Had a lovely hike snowshoeing, this took 3 hours with a few breaks and a short break for lunch.
Beautiful views 360.

A very nice trail , it has step sections but is very manageable, also very. yay as the weather was nice. The view at the trail end is breath taking !

Beautiful! I had my snowshoes, but didn’t need them last weekend. It was quite easy (I’m out of shape ;) with beautiful views on the drive there & back, but also at the lake. Beautiful!!!

Very steep at the beginning but very easy after about the first 2/3. The snow covered lake is in a beautiful bowl of peaks! Can’t wait to get back in summer!

This was a beautiful trail!! The trail offers some outstanding views once making it past the steep inclines. Most of the hike is in tree covering, but once you make it to the opening it is a worthy hike!! Our snowshoes worked out great and we wore minimal layers as we heated up quickly during climbing. I’d advise bringing additional layers for the opening as the winds tend to pick up past the tree line.
- great trail signage
- moderate/medium level difficulty during winter
- spectacular views
- easy access in and out of trail

The trail was compacted well enough for us all to hike with just good quality boots.
While there are more challenging hikes around. This is a very enjoyable trail with a beautiful clearing as you reach the lake.
It was perfect during the day we went.

Easy hike with beautiful views!

This is always where we seem to go for our first snowshoe trip of the year! It is peaceful and the snow is always great.

We did most of this trail - stopped early to head home - but definitely worth doing. Steep at the beginning but flat and easy going for the rest of the way. Good for snowshoeing but the hikers we had with us had a bit of trouble on the hill. Great snow and good views!

Great trail. Definitely push yourself to the top of the lake

We did a partial snowshoe/hike of this one today with some friends. Great views and lots of snow. A bit steep at the beginning without snowshoes and for longer than we thought; but very flat and enjoyable later on.

great winter trail. The snow was very packed down, ended up not needing snowshoes. Easy to find and navigate.
