official entrance and trail is closed until Oct 1, 2018. It appears to be a movie set on the east side. We went past the main entrance heading west and walked the upper rim looking down into canyon and found a path down into the canyon. Was a cloudy day, a bit muddy from earlier rain but much nicer while in the canyon, better colors and visualization of the striated canyon walls and erosion.

Amazing scenery, will definitely be going back! No shade and it’s hot! Bring a hat, lots of water and watch where you step if you go deep into the canyon, seen a few snakes.

It is an interesting place to hike around in from a history point of view. Just knowing dinosaurs once roamed here is enough of an incentive to get out there. You can make it an easy hike or a hard hike depending on what you prefer. There are no trail markers so be prepared to encounter a lot of false trails. If you venture further in you will encounter some brush that is very hard on the legs but hey, what is hiking without some scars! Take lots and lots of water, snacks and sunscreen if you are going farther than the beginning of the valley floor. Overall a great place to explore.

Great Hike. It’s 2.9 km but if you loop around and go up and down the formations it takes up the better part of a day. We spent 5 hours but we entered on the east side past the old parking lot. Also there’s a brand new campground across the road.

Nice hike. My parents really enjoyed it. Not too busy so that was nice.

Very different from all other hikes we’ve done in Alberta, kind of a choose your own adventure with a staircase to get down so an easy hike!

Easy trail, beautiful sights inside the canyon.

It's a neat little hike into the beginning of the badlands of Drumheller. Not an easy or accessible hike for everyone though as it's a bit difficult if you have mobility issues to get down onto the canyon floor. There are also no signs of any kind for the loop itself and many seemingly proper paths leading to no where. We hiked further than the loop by a ways on some trails but had to double back a few times on the way back trying to take a different route because trails led nowhere. Beautiful area though.

We've done this canyon several times, from hiking the whole canyon floor to climbing up to the highest peaks. It's a fun place to explore. Be sure to wear proper footware as the dirt and rocks are very loose and cannot be trusted to be stable. Also bring lots of water!

Fun and different, suitable for kids. Be prepared with water, hats, sunscreen, etc. for really hot temperatures in this area during summer.

My son and I did this hike in August 2015. Great weather. Fantastic scenery. If it had not been for the low flying tour helicopter passing over every ten minutes we would have scored this trail higher. The constant sound of the rotors echoing through the valley really did ruin the hike for us.

I've been on this trail so many times, it is never boring. It so fun exploring around the canyon. The scenery too, is awesome. Totally recommend this to families and anyone who likes adventure.
