This hike is easy and short. It took us one hour to reach the top of this hill from the Mesa Butte Equestrian centre, but the views were surprisingly nice. It is a calm area and you are treated to rolling foothills for miles in all directions. There is a picnic table and fire pit in a forested area at the top, perfect for the whole family to spend an evening together.

One of Alberta’s best kept secrets.

Absolutely stunning views of the foothills! Did this hike with 4 children 8-10 and our dog. We will have to go back to complete all the trails in this beautiful park. We had a blast, felt like we were in Vancouver and the wildlife was amazing. Saw many butterflies, deer, flowers, creeks, abandoned cabins, (my kids favorite) and breath taking scenery. We will be back!

This is a fantastic trail. We typically use horses, but would be great on foot as well. There are a couple of creek/river crossings so be prepared for wet feet depending how high the water level is. Not great for young kids with a hill climb right out of the campground, but preteen+ would be fine and you wouldn’t have to carry them. Caution crossing the meadow during weekdays as we have seen people siting in large guns down the powering clearing. Weekends seem to be fine.

Lots of beautiful wildflowers and singing birds. Nice forest walk.
Bug spray necessary.

I would say this hike is worth the views! Lots of wild flowers, butterflies and birds. We spotted some deer and came across a black bear about 20m off the trail- no problems. It is not an easy hike- definitely a lot of elevation gain- but enjoyable half a day. The loop took my bestie, two dogs and myself 3.5 hours to complete with a stop for lunch. Trail is getting worn in spots and there are lots of exposed roots and rocks- so wear appropriate footwear!

This is a great easy trail that connects Mesa Butte and Northfork campgrounds. Adding part of 9999 (four nines) trail creates a great loop. This trail has a history that goes back decades. Great wild flowers, views and in late summer awesome raspberries!

Nice and quiet

Nice hike but ensure you bring bug repellent! In some areas the mosquitos were so dense it sounded as if we were near a bees nest.

Amazing scenery from the viewpoint. There is a few different cut throughs so can make your hike as long or short as you like.

This was a wonderful spring hike with the whole family. 4 Boys age 3-11. There is some nice elevation gain at the beginning for some nice views, but nothing too strenuous. Stopped for lunch half way. No real difficulty and total moving time was about 2 hours.

This was a lovely trail clear of all snow. A few wet spots. The perimeter route my gps marked as 8km. Well maintained. The dog loved it.

Really nice hike with dog.

Did the loop last weekend and despite some wet/muddy stretches and a little bit of snow, the trail was all hikable. We went clockwise to leave the amazing viewpoint until the end. It took us just over 2hrs to do the loop. Didn't even know this park existed until I used this app!

A great shady hike ideal for a hot summer's day with a good mix of up hill, down hill and flat sections. Take the short hike to the viewpoint on the back section for some great views of the Rockies from the ridge.

Great hike with great views, the dog was loving it as well. Very moderate with a great view half way through. A bonus is that it is quite close to Calgary if you don't want to drive too far.

Maybe I have no brain today, but I couldn't find any signage, so I carried on. A little disappointing to drive out here only to discover a whole lot of nothing..

Beautiful views. Finished this hike with 4 adults, 3 children under the age of 3 years old and 2 dogs. There was a bit of standing water along the path and a bit of snow but all in all, the path was in good condition (nothing unexpected for spring). We did this hike with a stroller but I would recommend a carrier for small children. The path is rocky in some areas and there are areas with tree roots, but otherwise it is pretty tame. A great day hiking trail for the family.

Great little trail system and not far from Calgary. The trails were packed down but we snowshoed anyway.

I did this trail last July. Beautiful short hike that I definitely plan to do again shortly.

Today was a great day for a hike. Easy to moderate at best. Good hike for beginners.

Did this trail with my pregnant wife, recovering dog from surgery, and 4 year old son. Very family friendly, but still somewhat hidden from the crowds. Great forest setting.

Great trail for a fall hike. There is a new bridge put in sometime in the last year. Park at Indian Oils and go from there.

great trail to get back into shape

Nice moderate fall or spring hike. Some limited views west of the mountains. May be cattle in the area. Very similar in distance, elevation and views as Fullerton Loop.

Beautiful!!! excellent trail for beginners, beautiful scenery. Just have to keep your eyes peeled for the tree roots! Lol
