Did this hike a week ago. As a beginner hiker I would say this was more moderate than easy. Steep incline but so worth it

on Ptarmigan Cirque

Good hike, started off at as a moderate incline for the first km or so, then leveled off. A second trail goes up towards a small waterfall and then higher up the mountain, but what you can view from the first flat area is itself breathtaking. Had lunch beside the stream with a small "waterfall" on the rocks, not much shade in the flat meadow area, but beautiful views to enjoy there.

The parking lot had washrooms.

Breathtaking views at the end of the trail. It has 12 stop for total 6km.From stop 1 after crossing the highway 40 to stop 3 the trail has mild to moderate slope. After that really flat trail offering nice view of meadows with wild flower beds surrounding. Its great experience for kids, we hiked with 8 and 12 years old kids. They enjoyed snow balling at one stop where we found remnants of snow dump.Make a stop at the small water fall to feel the water.

Steep in the trees but then levels off to beautiful views

Great way to spend a hot July afternoon, my dog Madison loved swimming in the water across the road from the parking lot after a good walk.

Completed in 2 hrs with a couple 10 year olds. It is an easy enjoyable hike. Not particularly interesting but nice and open and close to Hwy 1. Exposed for a majority of the time so the fact that we went on a slightly cloudy day was perfect.

We did the praiprie view trail till the summit then retuned, we did not do the full circle but we enjoyed it so much!

Have not been hiking in 8 years. Was a little challenging, but still great!

nice hike, not too hard, beautiful views!

on Baldy Pass Trail

Nice views and steady incline. Took us about 2 hours to complete.

Excellent little hike. Feels like cheating since you’re starting off so high at the parking lot. Steep start then levels off into an alpine meadow with a creek and waterfalls. Good view of the Highwood Range to the west.
Going to the moraine and waterfall are good options, but not essential. The meadow and view will suffice most people.
Keep your dogs on leash and be bear aware.

Good hike! Not super marked though! Beautiful day!!!

Although the scenery was pretty, it was so busy, it was hard to enjoy. I spent 15 minutes with my dog to take some pictures. If I had a family, it would be a perfect outing as the loop is short and lots of places along the river to have lunch.

Challenging hike if you aren’t used to quick elevation gain. Compared to other hikes I’ve done, the views were mediocre but lots of pretty wild flowers. If you want an easier hike, go clockwise on the trail. For a much more difficult hike, go counterclockwise. Overall had fun and great hike to condition with and my dog easily walked this hike too

on Barrier Lake Trail

Beautiful lake. Did 2 hr round trip with spouse and 2 kids aged 3 (carried) and 7. Got 3 km in and 3 km back. From about 1-2.5 km it’s a bit boring, gravel path with no cover. After about 2.5 km the trail narrows to single file and changes from gravel to dirt in a forested area - this part was a bit more interesting. Steep at parts but our 7 year old had no problems with terrain.

Beautiful views! I enjoyed the changing scenery, various levels of incline and had the joy of seeing several deer throughout the morning. I would it again!

Good hike, beautiful forest. The grizzly bear with 3 cubs has just moved out this trail. Actually, it was closed when we arrived but when leaving, a ranger came and opened it. Finally we saw her between Ptarmigan and Elbow pass, so she's not far away...

Easy beautiful walk around the pond. We took our dog and our very young daughters and they loved it.

Difficult for this beginner so it took us longer than most reported here. Beautiful scenery. I think we took the more difficult route by taking the left fork up the stairs. It was much steeper and longer than staying to the right.

Took us 3.5 hours with our child and dog. Amazing views. Only complaint was it was quite congested on the Saturday we went.

Good walk

This is a fairly easy hike and if you go on the weekends it's usually pretty busy. It's one of my go-to hikes when I feel like an active recovery day. The trail is well-marked and there is a pretty view at the top. Round trip you can do it in about two and a half hours.

Trail is in good shape. Sign posted for bear in the area. Didn’t see it but there were two piles of bear skat on the trail. Had the bear bells on and had no encounter. Both piles were on the return leg (Terrace trail) close to the end of the trail (near parking lot). The falls are much further up the Ribbon Creek trail than the loop.

Water was super cold which is to be expected this time of year. The lake is accessed right away near parking and those that want to hike the trail can do that nearby also.

Easy trail, lots of wildlife activity though.

Had a cougar sighting when doing this hike.

This took us overall about 5 hours with picture stops and the girl I was with was slower and not cardio fit. She still enjoyed it and didn’t say it was hard, there was just hard spots. We took the harder loop trail but walked in and out. So did roughly like 17kms all up. Was worth it with the views for sure!
